24.01.2022 I had so much fun today creating these gifts for my friends and so easy. I had a day off commission work as I really needed to do some housework. So in between dusting and the bathrooms I’d pop down to the shed and put a layer of paint and then some stamping. Using IOD - Iron Orchid Designs stamps Rose Toile and Bohemia. I’ve used IOD ink New Grass Green and Oceans Deep Blue. Then I’ve clear and dark waxed. Maybe could have textured the paint a bit more and used a bit m...ore dark wax. But I’m super happy with them. I think I’m going to make all my Christmas presents this year. Hope my teenage boys like plant pots I love the imperfections and I love how easy they are to use. 18.01.2022 SOLD This absolutely solid timber vintage meat safe (original last pic) couldnt escape the IOD treatment. The timber panels on the door and sides were the perfect size for the IOD - Iron Orchid Designs transfer Ladies in Waiting. Ive framed the timber panels with a stamp (in gold paint) from the Queen Bee set and also stamped Kindest Regard in the background. The base colour is Annie Sloans Athenian Black and shes had a rustic distress to expose some of the old w...hite paint. The solid timber top has been sanded smooth and dark wax applied. I love all the historical marks still stained in the top. Evidence of her long loved life. 68.5cm w x 41cm d x 94cm h. 18.01.2022 This is a great example of applying transfers straight onto timber veneer. This lovely dresser (belonging to Trisha) is a mixture of timber and veneer. The veneer panels inside the drawers were in great condition so I’ve left them natural and applied @ironorchid_design transfer Midnight Garden just on the veneer. All it needed was a good clean with white spirits (Metho in Oz) and after a light spray of varnish. Actually Ive only used 1/2 of it on this gorgeous chest of drawers, so Ive still got the other 1/2 to adorn something else yay! The base Ive painted in Annie Sloans Scandinavian Pink. Then Ive stamped randomly Kindest Regard in gold paint, before I applied the transfer. Ive painted the legs with gold paint and Ive also painted the original knobs with a dash of gold gilding... wax. Personally I am really in love with green, White and Black atm, so I could almost keep this (if I had somewhere to put her). I decided on this fabulous avocado colour which is a mix of Annie Sloans Firle, Antibes and Chateau Grey. Then Ive used the tremendously versatile IOD - Iron Orchid Designs stamp Bohemia in Old White all O...ver the drawer fronts and sides. But check out the timber top. Ive sanded baby butt smooth, then applied a Graphite wash, wiped it off and when dry applied Annies Dark wax. 12.01.2022 SOLD Hello...Bright Furniture alert...are you awake now? This stunner was rescued from a furniture Frankenstein. I actually didnt mind the coffee table legs joined onto a set of vintage drawers, it just needed to be done properly. So now she is extremely solid with her new set of legs. She had the most awful coat of paint on her, so Ive disguised it with a coat of Annie Sloans Old white mixed with Saltwash (Saltwash) for texture and then a coat of Annies English Yellow.... Legs are painted in Annies Athenian Black. But wow on this one is IOD - Iron Orchid Designs Astoria Foliage. I really love the Celtic band along the bottom. The drawers are clean, painted and solid timber and slide easily. I could actually see this one as a shop display piece or that bit of wow in your AirBnB. 117.5cm h x 75.5cm w x 44cm d. 12.01.2022 I am so pleased with the results here and so is Tanya. They will be going into her new home on acreage overlooking the Glass House MountainsI’m so jealous. Inspiration for this design came from the beautiful work of ShabbyChic&Co Australia. The specific Grey/blue colour was kindly colour mixed by my wonderful friend Miki at Shabby Chic & Co in Brisbane. This colour is a mix of Dixie Belle Dusty Blue and Stormy Seas. Ive always loved using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to relove an old piece, but adding an IOD transfer or stamp makes it even more unique and special. Earlier in the year I was honoured to be asked to be Brisbanes Ambassador for IOD products. I taught myself, through their instructional videos and admiring other artists work on various sites.
