22.01.2022 The most frequently asked question being put to me by residents of Whipstick Ward since the commencement of my campaign to represent them in the coming council elections is this: Why are my rates so high? Many have come from here from other parts of Victoria, and even interstate to take advantage of country life and more affordable housing among other reasons. They often have an unpleasant surprise when they receive their rates notices. I have done a comparison with the cou...ncil rates of four other regions; Geelong, Ballarat, Castlemaine, and the Melbourne suburb of Banyule. Please click to see results on my website...

11.01.2022 Bendigo has a population of over 118,000 residents: 16,000 of these live in our rural communities. Each rural community is unique and holds just as much importance to the City of Greater Bendigo as the suburban population. However, some of the residents of these rural areas have advised me they would benefit from greater consultation and collaboration with council regarding various issues present in the community. One of the residents summed it up this way, ‘Some days it feel...s like the City of Greater Bendigo finishes at White Hills’. Many of these communities may have to fight for years before they see any results. ‘If it were not for a handful of dedicated volunteers lobbying for us, nothing would get done,’ commented the same resident. We need to recognise, value and support the contribution the rural communities make towards the City of Greater Bendigo. We need to talk less and listen more. Actions speak louder than words. I lived in a small farming community for several years. My eldest daughter and son in-law with my two grandchildren live on a large sheep farm on the other side of Bendigo in another shire so I have great empathy and respect for those who live and work in our rural communities. If elected as Councillor for Whipstick Ward I would do my best to be a voice and a worthy representative for all those who live in City of Greater Bendigo rural areas. 07.01.2022 Hi everyone, today is Aged Care Employee Day and I would like to celebrate and acknowledge all those amazing men and women who are out there looking after the elderly in their homes or aged care facilities. You are working in incredibly difficult times, and yet you continue to summon the will to care for our most vulnerable in the community. Thank you thank you.
