25.01.2022 Statement from the CEO David Pentz: The administration of the Town of Port Hedland acknowledges and respects the State Government’s decision to immediately susp...end the Council and put a Commissioner in place. As an organisation, our primary goal is to provide the people of Hedland with the highest possible quality of services. Our promise is to work closely with the Commissioner to restore the community’s confidence in our ability to provide good governance and continue to provide quality services to ratepayers, stakeholders and the community. As CEO, my thoughts will also be with the welfare of staff. I acknowledge it has been a very challenging period for employees, but I am confident the appointment of the Commissioner will bring positive outcomes for the town. This is an opportunity for us to look forward as an organisation, and we trust the people who live here will stand by our staff as we endeavour to further improve the way we deliver great outcomes for the community.

17.01.2022 Thank you to the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce inc., Web Business Hub and the Walkabout Hotel for inviting me to be a part of the Meet the Candidate night. It was nice to get the chance to meet some of the other candidates and to hear their stance on issues that affect our town etc.

17.01.2022 $15 MILLION FOR HEDLAND SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL I’m very happy with today’s announcement of $15 million for upgrades to Hedland Senior High School. Hedland SHS has b...een doing a wonderful job educating our kids for the past 55 years and with this funding now secured, it can continue to educate our kids in more modern facilities. The much needed upgrades will include a new Performing Arts Centre and a new sports facility with change rooms. I have been strongly advocating for these upgrades and look forward to seeing the new facilities built.

10.01.2022 SPREAD THE NEWS!!!!!! Did you know that Hedland Senior High School had the highest ATAR last year for any high school north of Geraldton? Amazing job done by the Teachers, Board and current principal Bill Mann who was brought out of retirement to get the school back on track. He now comes to the end of his 2 year contract and recruitment has started for the next Principal. Things are looking up. Also great to see $15 mil committed to the school by State Gov.
