20.01.2022 We have two finalists in the CBAA Awards 2020 this year. Big John is a finalist for Excellence in Technical Services, as we all know it was John who has done a lot of the work setting up studio's, setting up computers, and doing a lot of the technical stuff from Ellen Street to Unanderra. John is the first to admit that he did have help with Ian in achieving this massive task and others that have helped him. But he has taken on the job of technical for our station and we are ...all better off with him being there. The second finalist is Judy Clare, Judy has been with the station for well over 7 years now, Judy has worked in the office, and our office has never been so organised, well managed and everything that has been set up for the office, (procedures and policies) Judy has had a hand in that. Judy also works with Kunal (our bookkeeper) once a week to keep the financial bookwork in excellent working order. Judy is the treasurer of the Board of Directors and has also been on the programming committee as the chair in 2019. What would our station be without Judy in the office. A big congrats to both Judy and John, thank you both for your hard work, and best of luck with the awards as you both deserve it.

16.01.2022 Labour Day Long Weekend & Double demerits will be in place from 12.01am on Friday, October 2 to 11.59pm on Monday October 5. Anyone caught using their phones this weekend will risk being given 10 demerit points and a $344 fine. If a driver is caught not wearing a seatbelt, they will face six demerit points. If two passengers are unrestrained, the driver faces 12 demerit points.... Please stay safe this long weekend and drive to survive.

08.01.2022 This is Lilian Wings President and morning program presenter at 106.9 VOX FM. She is a humble, one-woman machine whose skill, energy and achievements in communi...ty radio are remarkable. I'd like to share one of Lil's little projects to illustrate. Fundraising is always on the agenda in community radio and when COVID 19 slashed our sponsorship income, Lil set about convincing a disparate group of presenters and Committee members that putting on a play would be the way to get some money for the station. Not only would we raise money for VOX, we'd bring the presenters together and put on a night of fun and entertainment for our loyal listeners. Over the past 9 months or so, Lil has pestered, encouraged and buttered up a lot of people. She's dealt with changes and challenges, cracked the whip and made actors out of radio presenters. She's sown costumes, hand made centre pieces for the tables (see photos below), and been involved in the myriad of other jobs too numerous to list here. And when tickets went on sale, she'd managed to create enough enthusiasm within our community of listeners that we sold out in a matter of days. 250 tickets sold! I have said to Lil on more than one occasion "you are amazing", and every single time she has replied "I'm not amazing, I'm surrounded by amazing people". Of course that's true. A show like this can only happen when a group of people work together. But getting people to work together for free, and over such a long period of time, is a rare and remarkable skill that few leaders possess. You are an absolute super star Lilian Wings! I am so, so proud of you and the entire team at VOX One more week til show time. Woohoo!
