25.01.2022 http://voxfrock.com.au/last-blast-2/ The Voxfrockers are immensely proud of our rookies, the fashion journalists and photographers of the future, and deeply appreciate the support and love you have shown them, not only this week at VAMFF 2020 but through all the festivals and fashion weeks they have covered for five years. Before we sign off with Reannon Smith's small but evocative essay of fleeting moments from this historic week, we want to remind you how precious your support is to us all; please take care, stay safe, and au revoir, for now

21.01.2022 Invitation to FashLab Fashion’s fundamentally ridiculous ways are under global scrutiny, action plans popping up everywhere to limit its impact on climate change and the health of humanity and earth in general. In Melbourne, our small community of independent creatives - designers, educators, media, stylists, photographers, milliners, artists, agents, influencers, all walks of fashion-related industry - are NOT generally part of the massfashion problem. We are the solution.... We are the better end of a polarised industry. We are essentially, agile and sustainable businesses, often morally driven and, being small, have the luxury of privileging people, skills, craftsmanship, expertise, beautiful products and creative results over profitatallcosts and unsustainable growth. In FashLab, we meet for one fast and useful hour each week to talk, share experiences, contacts and information in a zoombubble of mutual respect and discretion. (We will resume facetoface FashLabs when it’s safe and legal.) We thrash out ideas, solutions and bluesky plans not only for our own businesses but for Melbourne’s wider creative culture, especially for its fashion design, manufacturing and related on-sell and marketing industries. The rich knowledge among FashLab members is our unique strength. Many of us are veteran practitioners (including legends of our local industry) with the anecdotal wealth of many years’ experience; some of us fresher, or emerging, with both struggles and successes meeting the current challenges of this small to medium category. We learn from each other, we mentor and mentee by turns. We are also a warm, friendly, caring community and, after six months of establishing protocols and smoothing glitches, we’re taking applications for new members. So if you’re a small/medium fashionable creative professional/business, if you’ve experience to share and a need to learn from others, if you’re interested in more information, push the FashLab button on Voxfrock.com.au or email me, [email protected] Warmest regards, Janice Breen Burns (PS: FashLab is free. You’re very welcome.)
