13.01.2022 The final of our featured works from Vanguard's debut concert is Jukka Linkola's Mieliteko, with tickets available at https://links.vanguardconsort.com/debut J...ukka Linkola rose to prominence as a classical composer in the 80s, his music consisting almost entirely of the taboos others had essentially banned. Fittingly, his background at the The Sibelius Academy, University of the Arts Helsinki was initially classical piano, but he became increasingly dedicated to jazz piano, eventually graduating in the jazz discipline. Mieliteko Desire, in English is a playful setting of five songs from Finnish folk music and parts of the 19th century Epic, the Kalevala, a Creation story that partly influenced the mythology of Tolkien. Listen to the first movement here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTtR0hPR59I
