22.01.2022 Our Leadership program delivered in the Western Australian Regional areas, has given opportunity to students who do not have access to post schooling education. VTS are very honoured to share the story of Latoya, who completed the Certificate I and II in Leadership in 2017. The links to all of Latoyas social media and website accounts are posted below. A very worthy business to support! Since completing the Certificate I and II in Leadership with VTS, I have continued with ...make-up by starting my own business. I absolutely love giving makeovers to those who struggle to see their beauty. Most women I makeover never want to wipe it off, but I always remind my clients that they were beautiful before, and they will be beautiful once the make-up has been removed. Most of these women hated their skin, so it has inspired me to venture into my own small skincare range. I am currently in the process of launching Desert Dusk Skincare. The products are all Organic, Vegan, Cruelty Free and is made and manufactured here in Australia with Australian ingredients. My customers will get the best of what our beautiful country has to offer. I have also had offers to work with youth, and thats something I would love to do. I am still a busy wife and mum to 4 little ones, and appreciate the opportunity to help, and share my knowledge and experience with all of my clients. - Latoya Ashwin www.desertduskskincare.com https://m.facebook.com/desertduskskincare/ https://www.instagram.com/desertduskskincare/ https://m.facebook.com/makeupbylatoyaashwin/ https://www.instagram.com/makeupbylatoyaa/
20.01.2022 Course in the Spotlight Certificate I and II in Leadership Karratha For the past few months VTS Senior Trainer & Assessor Nicky Ellis, with the assistance of VTS Mentor Devena Christie, has led a Certificate I and II in Leadership for 24 at risk, senior school aged Aboriginal youth in the Pilbara.... Both Nicky and Devena used their leadership expertise and life skills to teach our young students team work, self-development and self-care, communication, building relationships within the community, what leadership is and how to identify their own strengths. The projects that our students produce as part of their assessments are designed to increase confidence and self-esteem, and develop skills to overcome obstacles in day to day situations. A measure of success for these courses was evident yesterday, when 20 of the 24 students who initially enrolled, graduated in front of family and friends. Mr Neil Darby, Regional Executive Director of Education, was represented by Sharon McCawley, Co-ordinator Regional Services Pilbara Education Department, as well as other key members from the Department of Education. Nicky has received a personal letter from the Manager Engagement and Transition, Pilbara Education Regional Office, James Gorham acknowledging the significant success of the program. Throughout my career, I have been rewarded by seeing firsthand the benefits of continued education, through self development and career advancement. I am very proud to be involved in this program, and it will go down as one of my absolute career highlights. These young students had to overcome many personal hurdles to realise their potential, and I feel that this program is a stepping stone for much greater things. Nicky Ellis, VTS Senior Trainer/Assessor Congratulations Nicky and Devena from all of the VTS team!

19.01.2022 This week VTS had the opportunity to take a selection of our Aegis Aged Care commercial cookery apprentices for a visit to the Kailis Fish Markets as a primer to commencing the unit Prepare Seafood Dishes. It was a great experience for our students to learn about the variety of seafood available to us in WA and the many ways it can be prepared and incorporated into meals. It was also interesting to see the production side of the business where the fresh seafood arrives and is prepared prior to sale. To top it off we enjoyed a sample of the product for lunch! Special thanks to VTS Trainer/Assessor Jackie Heard and Kailis Fish Markets for arranging the experience.
