23.01.2022 CAPA Awards recognise the best practice of postgraduate associations at the 39 universities in australia. There are only 5 awards each year with some categories receiving up to 12 nominations. This year VUPA was nominated for the CAPA CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AWARD, this award is provided to the affiliate that is most engaged and aligned with CAPAs objectives. The Finalists:... PARSA for being an example of best practice in postgraduate student associations, and their contributions and support to CAPA VUPA for attaining independence from their undergraduate union, for embodying best practice, and for their support of CAPA. Winner: VUPA - VUPA has this year made the major achievement of becoming independent from the undergraduate student union, VUSU. - They are committed to the CAPA community, having assisted other affiliates with advice pertaining to the VU block model and on independence. - They implemented their own version of the NUPSA international buddy program, a previous years CAPA Award winner. - They are also hosting the ACM and lead a joint sponsorship bid with MGA and GSA for the gala dinner. VUPA would like to thank the Council of Australian Postgraduate Associations - CAPA for this national level of recognition. The VUPA board extends thanks to our Vice Chancellor and President Peter Dawkins; Vice President Planning & Registrar (and past CAPA President!) Teresa Tjia; and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students) Naomi Dempsey and Professor Anne-Marie Hede for their support of VUPA and encouragement of a wider, vibrant and engaged postgraduate community. Without them, our team would not have come so far!

06.01.2022 Thankyou Council of Australian Postgraduate Associations - CAPA for your kind words and support for our award. "Finally, we recognised the efforts of the affiliate who contributed the most to national representation and best practice through our capstone award, The CAPA Citizen of the Year. This year, we recognised the substantive work of Victoria University Postgraduate Association (VUPA) in both the improvements they made to align VUPA with best practice by becoming independent from their undergraduate union, and demonstrating support for other affiliates and leadership in collaborations to improve postgraduate representation nationally. On a limited budget and with limited resources, it is inspiring to see a small affiliate working at the standard of Go8 affiliates." - Natasha, CAPA Presdient

05.01.2022 VU has made some temporary changes to the management of Fail grades to avoid disadvantaging students whose progress may have been impacted by the COVID-19 pande...mic. HE students will receive a Withdrawal result as opposed to a Fail result. Fail grades wont impact your GPA. You will need to do redo any failed units or assessments. These changes dont apply to students in Placement units. You may request to be excluded from this temporary change. These changes apply only to students whose study has moved from on-campus to remote delivery. Students studying through VU Online are not affected by these changes. If you have any questions, you can email us or speak to us via live chat (askvu.edu.au) or call us on +61 3 9919 6100.
