14.01.2022 UPDATE: Stage 1 Trial Date Moved As a result of recent flooding of the Queen Square Court complex arising from a burst water pipe, the Federal Court has been forced to reschedule the 30 October 2017 listing of the first stage trial. The first stage trial will now commence on 5 March 2018.

06.01.2022 A U.S.-based Volkswagen AG executive who oversaw emissions issues was sentenced to seven years in prison and fined US $400,000 by a judge on Wednesday for his role in a diesel emissions scandal. "It is my opinion that you are a key conspirator in this scheme to defraud the United States," U.S. District Judge Sean Cox of Detroit told Oliver Schmidt in court. "You saw this as your opportunity to shine ... and climb the corporate ladder at VW."

01.01.2022 Yesterday Judge Forster slammed Volkswagen Australian for still failing to explain why they fitted cars with emissions "defeat devices", and has warned company executives may be forced to take the stand over the matter. Judge Foster said the company had not answered the question that went to the "heart of the case". "There is a reason why this was done that your client has to answer," Judge Foster said.... "If there is some legitimate engineering reason, let's hear it."
