25.01.2022 Hey all, it's been a while since our last post. Here's one we finished a little while ago but had to keep under wraps. Matt's 2332cc is all finished up and we are stoked with how she turned out.... Just the right amount of growl with just the right amount of whine (the audio in this clip does NOT do it justice). As always, a short build spec to follow; Autolinea alloy Super case with all the fruit (full flowed, windage ported and deburred internally, CB wide glide sump with high flow filter) The crank comes in the form of a fully forged Scat VolksRacer in 84mm. Tough. As. Nails. Rods are also from Scat and are a lightweight H Beam with ARP 2000 bolts. Pistons are courtesy of Wiseco and have the crown and skirts ceramic coated. Heads are CB Panchitos which we finished the port work by hand in house. They also have the chambers (which were fully CnC'd to start with before our refinishing) ceramic coated. The flywheel is again from Scat, and at the other end a CB equaliser pulley is used to take the load off the center main bearing. Cam wise we have mated to a CB Pro straight cut gear set an SLR cam with matched lifters with custom HD alloy push rods and CB 1.4:1 rockers. Nothing like a silent valvetrain and a little whine to let people around you know you're not playing around. Externally she features all powder coated tin from Scat. A complete ignition system from Pertronix. Charging is handled by a genuine Bosch Alternator with a billet CB pulley up top. Carbs are of course genuine Webers, in this case they are 48IDFs and and sitting on top of CB manifolds and linkages and full custom AN fittings and hard lines for fuel delivery. All other forms of breathing are handled by CSP, most noticeable is the killer Python exhaust system that they produce but a breather box is also in the mix. A fair bit of ceramic coating was carried out all round as well. Again for us to maintain our quality control, we carried it all out in house. The piston crowns and chambers (with valves) we coated in an extreme high temp thermal barrier for increased durability by puting less heat into the head and piston, there's some bonus power in there 'cause of that too. The skirts coated in a dry film lubricant to reduce friction, again durability and the bonus power that comes with. The barrel exteriors are coated in a heat wincking compound, this helps to draw the heat out of the barrel itself and is straight up durability and corrosion protection. And that damn fine exhaust is coated with a different thermal barrier to keep the heat where its supposed to be, out the back of the car. As always, we can help you out with your build. We cover everything from 36 horse to one off custom builds and we always put the same care and attention into every single one. There are no corners cut. Ever. If you want to have a chat with us, either shoot us a message here or drop us a line on 0417725118. Stay tuned. Bigger things are coming

19.01.2022 A quick ride in Terry's Splitty. It's hard doing road tests when the scenery is so good!

18.01.2022 1300 is a great number! It says to invite friends to the page, but everyone on here already is. Thank you for your support guys. Stay tuned, bigger things are coming

15.01.2022 We did say bigger things were coming, and there is still much more to come Sent down to Mikki at Indian Automotive in Sydney is one of our 1679cc Super Stock motor. Talk about one smooth criminal. This start up she's dead cold, just set the chokes and hit the start.... Typically we build these as a single stock (34PICT) carb and stock exhaust, but there is so much potential left on the table with them as is shown here. The cam and heads will take the standard components to their capacity. What's inside? Good question. These motors start off with a spanking new AS41 case, Scat forged Volksracer crankshaft, Scat forged I beam rods, HD P&B kit, a gorgeous little cam, USA built (stock valve size) heads and rounded out with more Scat goodness in the way of their ProStreet rockers, Push Rods and Lifters. Solid bottom end? You betcha. There is nothing better in our opinion. How is it so damn smooth? Everything is 100% balanced, that's how! A keen eye would have noticed the filter hanging around. Clean oil is good oil after all, this is why we full flow our engines. What about the top end though? That's Scat Tinwear, and damn does it fit well. The carbs are CB Solex dual carbs which have an electric choke for those cold winter mornings. The dizzy? Does a NOS Brazilian 009 fit the bill here? Yes. But won't that have the dreaded flat spot? Nope, the later 009s had quite a number of revisions to the bob weights and spring set up. This significantly improved them vs the early iterations and nailed the flat spot dead. Now all you have is ridiculous reliability. The exhaust is a full stainless sidewinder. I only burnt myself on it once during tuning . The pulley is a billet CB piece of kit, and it's damn fine! Could I be happier with this motor? Nope. Not in a single way. It starts perfectly every single time, even from dead cold. It's smoother than velvet and has such a lovely subtle exhaust note to boot. If you have a Kombi or Beetle and need this kind of goodness in your life, either us or Mikki can help you out there. If you desire something bigger (or smaller!), then give us a call and we will happily tailor something to your needs. From a 36 horse rebuild to something capable of bending the space time continuim, we can accommodate. Stay tuned. Bigger things are coming. (sorry for the horrid video!)

11.01.2022 With everything that's been going on around the world and it currently not been the greatest weather here in Malanda, we have had to make our own sunshine while being locked away. This week we have been working on a lovely little 1200 which we have rebuilt back to bone stock with the highest quality parts available. The case is the original for the vehicle, along with crank and rods.... The motor was virgin and had never been split which was a surprise to us when we started the disassembly. The case is now on her first cut over, and the crank was linished as it was still well within spec. The rods however had to be closed and honed and have new gudgeon bushes installed to be on the safe side. A NOS set of KS pistons and barrels were sourced along with a genuine NOS cam and lifters. The heads we rebuilt here in house back to factory using 100% NOS genuine parts. All powder coating was carried out by NQ Custom Powder Coating. The wet black finish has to be seen in the flesh to appreciate how flawless their work really is. They take a huge amount of pride in their work and it shows in their product. A genuine Ernst muffler was sourced and along with the inlet manifold and heater boxes got the ceramic coating treatment. We have a few more little jobs to do down the track which involves changing out the 009 for the correct genuine dizzy along with installing a rebuilt genuine Australian made fuel pump and regulator. We just need to have new diaphragms made up for the units which we have hoarded over the years from cars that have been parted out. This will be done very soon to round out this little gem and bring her back to 100% original as she would have been when she rolled off the production line in 1964. Earlier this week we finished up some quite extensive work on a drop top bug and a low light so it will be good to see them back on the road and cruising around FNQ very soon (when we are allowed back on the roads for cruises). The little bug now runs and stops significantly better than when she came in and the low light is very close to being back on the road after a few years out of the scene. Stay safe and stay tuned and as always, Big things are coming.

10.01.2022 A few pics of Matt's build.

08.01.2022 Folks its just worth noting how excited the folks are in CARDWELL about our weekend. This is a message I just received from Thea who organizing the Jetty Markets.... "Hi Micheal Ive scheduled all the Facebook posts to advertise the Volksfest market day on our jetty markets fb page and event. They will start appearing today can you let your crew that are on Facebook know and when they see a post on their feed to like and share and click going on the event this helps with the posts getting a good reach on Facebook. Also I signed off on the radio advertising yesterday so that will roll our soon also. Getting excited" As you can see expect a lot of people to come and enjoy seeing your VW at the Show n Shine. It's all building up nicely for a fantastic weekend. Also remember anyone can join us on the convoy or weekend VW or not. So if you have you have any friends who want to come along they are more than welcome. They will get to see why we do what we do. Cheers Mike

07.01.2022 Another build done. This time, not a huge one, but super smooth none the less. This time Tania's little bug has a bit more motivation in the way of a little 1641cc. To say it's got a bit more poke then the very tired 1300 that was in there is an understatement. The block has been bored and full flowed with an external filter installed for longevity.... The German crank and rods a have been fully machined to bring them back into spec to go another round. A new set of 87mm piston and barrels have been installed too. The heads are genuine 040 heads which we rebuilt and up rated here in house with stainless valves, single HD springs and CroMo collets and retainers. The mild cam and lifters are courtesy of CB Performance and matched with stock genuine rockers on HD shafts with spacers to keep them running dead true. The oiling system has also been uprated with a genuine HD Schadek Oil Pump. On the induction side to keep it all mild, a set of single throat Solex carbs has been installed for easy running and tune. A genuine SVDA dizzy has been reconditioned to get the advance to where it should be for this motor to keep her strong down low, but not too hot up top. And Vintagespeed have supplied one of their great sounding exhaust systems to round out the package. All in all, she has had some life breathed into her and will be good for many many more turns around the sun. Feel free to drop us a line here, or on 0417725118 to have a chat about any motor needs you have. We ship Aus wide regularly and nothing is too hard to design and build to suit your needs. Stay Tuned.

03.01.2022 While we've been quiet on the socials, we are never idle in the shop. One build we have just finished up is now in a 356 Speedster. And she's a little weapon. Built around our normal standard of no compromise, she is now a 2.2 litres of genuine Weber fed goodness.... When she came in, it was fitted with an AMR500 Supercharger kit on what the owner had been told was a 'fully built motor'. Unfortunately we have now seen this too many times. A second hand, bone stock bottom end (including the cam which was out of adjustment) and a lightened flywheel was the extent of the previous builders efforts. But it did have a new case at time of building... That's was its saving grace. The little AMR had been set up with so much overdrive that it was way beyond its continuous operational limits. Unfortunately this lead to it having disintegrated and gone through the motor. Public service announcement: An AMR500 is designed for operation on 600cc-900cc motors, not 1600cc motors. Que VWCL and back to the build. We waved the wand over the case, carrying out a few of our in house mods plus the normal full flow procedure. She's now got some displacement courtesy of a forged stroker crank from CB and matched H Beam rods. We retained the Lightened flywheel and added a CB Billet alloy pulley before dynamic balancing the whole shooting match. A Forged and ceramic coated piston and barrel kit was added to the mix for outright strength as this little car will be competing in the Targa Great Barrier Reef. Cam wise we went old school on this one with the venerable W120 with matched lifters. People who know me also know that I am extremely selective of camshafts and don't usually reach for a W series cam as they have been surpassed many times over now, but in this case, it fit the bill perfectly. To round out the old school build a set of hand ported Scat Super D Port heads with 4237mm valves and Scat Pro 1.25:1 rockers with HD Manton CroMoly push rods ensure that the top end will breathe and be ultra reliable for years to come. The owner had an MSD unit installed in the car which we were able to check over and ensure full function before replacing the cap and re commisioning. Induction is handled by dual Genuine Weber 44IDF carbs on a CB manifold and linkage kit which we match ported in house. When tuning for lean best idle, even with big heads, big rockers and a big cam, she still purred all the way down to 450rpm. This is why we only ever use the real deal. You can't get the knock off's to such a fine state of tune. Rounding the package out is an 1" stainless side winder exhaust system. Many many hours went into this gorgeous piece of kit, and we can't be more proud to have our name to the build. Thank you to everyone who has supported us through the last year and we look forward to bigger and better times to come. As always, Stay tuned. Big things are on the way.

02.01.2022 Terry's split sailed through its roadworthy and is now cruising the roads of Cairns. She's got a seriously strong 1641cc with a center mount genuine 40IDF Weber and a lovely CSP Python exhaust system to round out the package. Not only does it look and sound the goods, with its deep even note, it goes strong and smooth with plenty of power to get around the FNQ hills and is a dream to drive. ... Stay tuned. Bigger things are coming...
