25.01.2022 Are you patient, loving and looking for a new furry feline companion? Check out our shy kittens looking for someone like you! Sylvester, our stunning black and white kitten, Dart the black beauty and Garfield the ginger darling will need a new home where their humans will take time to earn their trust and confidence. They would all love to be kept indoors (or in an enclosed outdoor space) and have another confident kitty to befriend. They are not suited to a home with young children or dogs.

24.01.2022 Meet Lupita! Lupita is a lovely little girl who has come a very long way since coming into care. Shes was found as a very scared stray and unfortunately didnt find her owners. Lupita is just adorable and very food driven. Food is the best way to gain her trust and shell run up to humans for food now! ... Lupita does not like to be handled as with most bunnies, but is tolerant if needed. Shes still learning to like human affection but is getting better and better by the day! She needs a quiet indoor home with people who are willing to give her lots of love and patience. Shes an amazing little bun and we know shell warm up well with some time. Lupita is very tidy and has now been desexed vaccinated and microchipped. Shes currently located in Byford and to help her find an awesome home her adoption fee $100. Please message us if youre interested in giving this beautiful girl a home For more information check out her petrescue profile here - https://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/793427
24.01.2022 WHEN SHOULD YOU LET YOUR CAT OR KITTEN OUTSIDE We strongly recommend keeping all pet cats indoors only, or with access to a cat enclosure. We will post some comments with information on this. HOWEVER we know some people do choose to allow their cats unfettered access to the great outdoors. ... Here are some guidelines on how and when it is safest to do this: - once they are at least 6 months of age - definitely not before 4 months - at least two weeks after desexing, ideally a month to allow hormones to settle to prevent roaming and calling - at least two weeks after they have completed their initial course of vaccinations - at least one month after you get them or move into a new home - ideally at least 6 weeks - create a cosy area in your yard for them, that smells like them - e.g. use bedding from indoors - Start by supervising them for short periods outdoors, wearing a harness and lead if possible WHY: Young kittens easily get disoriented, killed by predators, or picked up by well-meaning passers by who think they might have been dumped. Cats who have not been fully vaccinated and had time to develop immunity can get very ill with preventable diseases. Cats get disoriented after a move and may try to find their way back to a prior residence. Kittens are even less aware of the dangers of cars than adult cats, and have less developed senses and reaction times and coordination. Many things outside are scary to cats and they benefit from safe home bases to return to.
23.01.2022 LOST DOGS NEED YOUR HELP There are currently many lost dogs around Perth - both due to recent storm damage and others missing for longer periods. Please help by taking the time to check your yards and sheds for lost pets .... Long term missing dogs will likely be hiding, and can travel large distances. A scared pet will get over or under or through any fence. If you have outdoor pet food, you are likely to be a particularly welcome hide for them, so please check for signs of a visitor - they may only come out to eat at dawn or overnight. If you find a pet, contact your local rangers or take them to the nearest vet! You can also message our Facebook page or even Tweet us. PLEASE SHARE IN LOCAL GROUPS AND WITH YOUR FRIENDS. THE MORE PEOPLE WHO CHECK YARDS THE BETTER THE ODDS ARE A LOST PET WILL BE FOUND.

They have generously donated three prize packs, for each of the rabbit raffle prizes. These consist of four herb and greens potted plants, sure to keep your bunny or bunnies very happy, and a voucher fo...r you to get something for yourself - or even a book on how to keep the greens alive! We thoroughly recommend a visit! Check out their website: www.zanthorrea.com To enter the raffle, check the HOW TO details here: www.facebook.com/waanimalsinc/posts/2766333360144193

17.01.2022 Has greyhound racing lost its social licence? A group of dog lovers and their pet greyhounds will be protesting outside of Parliament House tomorrow as they pr...esent a petition with more than 11,000 signatures calling for the end of greyhound racing in WA. Local greyhound advocacy group, Free the Hounds, will present the petition to Greens MLC Alison Xamon who will table it in parliament on Thursday morning. Free the Hounds President, Alanna Christiansen, says the number of signatures on the petition demonstrates a growing community opposition to greyhound racing. What do you think?

12.01.2022 Burswood Foreshore Pelican Rescue! If you donate to this post we will pass funds through to Seabird Rescue. This pelican was reported to us yesterday, with fishing line dangling from its swollen and lame leg. Were not experienced with catching injured water birds, so contacted the awesome WA Seabird Rescue. ... The close up photo shows why, among other things, its important not to just try pull on the end of string. Even if just tangled, not hooked, pulling tightens and line just snaps. If you see an injured animal please call for help! Contact numbers: WASR for water birds - 6102 8464 Wildcare for other wildlife - 9474 9055 You can also message WA Animals and we will try to get the right people to the right place to help.

06.01.2022 LET'S TALK ABOUT THE RANGERS We know it can be hard to call the rangers on an animal sometimes - you want the animal to be safe and warm. But we want to reassure you that rangers and animal care facilities are there to help. If you'd rather take an animal to a shelter or vet, that's fine too, but please do so IMMEDIATELY. Please don't hold off on doing something - if you can't stop or take an animal somewhere as soon as you find it, call the rangers. If you don't want to tak...e an animal somewhere, call the rangers. If you hold off, there's a risk of injury, pregnancy, or the animal just running off again, so acting fast is crucial. Councils and rangers work with animal rescue organisations to rehome unclaimed animals - some might do more than others, but no council does nothing anymore. If you're worried for a found animal's future, let the ranger and animal care facility that the animal goes to know that you are happy to foster for one of their rescue partners if the animal goes unclaimed. But we can't stress enough that rangers are good people and aren't in the job to hurt animals. If you're worried about pound fees for the owner, rest assured that councils have processes for hardship - to waive or subsidise fees or arrange payment plans. You can also let the rangers know you'd be happy to help if the owner needs it, or that you'd be happy to arrange help from a rescue. Photographs are just some of the animals helped because rangers went ABOVE AND BEYOND. Feel free to add more in the comments! Top left: surprise puppies - a ranger arranged puppies to go to rescue and both parent dogs to be desexed and chipped, including transport for owners who didn't drive Top centre: a dumped dog tracked for hours by rangers after weeks on the streets Top right: an unwanted dog a ranger drove hours to collect in their own time, from a regional area Bottom left: a semi-domesticated kitten a ranger fostered themselves Bottom: centre left and right - dogs arranged for vet work via rescues Bottom right: a pelican with hook entanglement a ranger watched while finding a wildlife group to assist.
06.01.2022 Meow-lo! Jesses the name, being stunningly handsomes the game! Im a cat and dog savvy lad looking for a quiet life! Jesse came into foster care, saved from life on the streets, with his brother Hamish, who is now doing so well in his furever home - but Jesse is still waiting. Jesse can still be quite shy with humans, but he makes up for it with his voice, particularly at meal times! His confidence with human affection is also growing all the time and hes happy to sleep on... the couch nearby and accept pats - on his terms. Jesse is very affectionate with all of his feline siblings and is happy to relax with them, playing occasionally but prefers to watch the action. A house with a confident cat pal, or pals, would be pawfect! He is also happy enough with a small-medium dog housemate, so would be okay going with cat savvy dogs. He would prefer a quiet household without small children though. He has had some skin issues but its currently responding well to a new diet. We will support you through the next few months with his skin condition, to ensure its under control . Jesse is available to meet in Bicton! His adoption fee is reduced to $50. This includes sterilisation, microchipping, vaccinations, flea and worm treated. Send us a message to meet him today

04.01.2022 Hey everyone I’m baaack! Our Coode st jetty swan has made a full recovery after removal of the fish hook. Thanks to our friends at Native Arc for taking our c...all at 730am last week and admitting the swan for removal of hook under G.A Our Swan called out to his friends who swam over and there was much chattering going on between them all! If you look carefully it’s easy to find discarded fishing line, cigarette butts and plastic debris (straws, bottle tops, coffee cup lids etc) littering this beautiful foreshore. Please take a moment to pick up the litter others have thoughtlessly discarded and dispose of it safely. Speak to your local council and your local MP if you want them to do more to protect our precious wildlife. Native ARC Inc. City of South Perth

We all lived with a cat-friendly corgi and some older kids, so we should settle into your home just fine, too! We know that adopting three cats at once can be a bit harder but we heard another trio got adopted two weeks ago so we know our home is out there! Remember adoptions are by appointment only, so book via the website to meet us today! See more

02.01.2022 When pet cats are allowed to roam, wild critters suffer. This little girl is one of a few juvenile quendas weve admitted with severe cat attack injuries. She... had emergency surgery to repair deep, open bite wounds. She was on a long course of antibiotics and pain relief to help her fight the infection and injuries from the cat attack. We are very fond of responsible cat ownership. There are a few things you can do for your kitties to keep them contained while also allowing them to experience fresh air and sunlight: Create a secure cat run (wed recommend getting in touch with West Coast Enclosures). Train your pets to walk on leads. Install cat proof fencing. Enclose the back patio / veranda for a safe semi-outdoors cat play area. Google ideas to suit your property and pets. If you ever find a wild animal who has been bitten or scratched by a cat, never release that animal. They will need a course of antibiotics and wound care. Instead, give us a call for advice or pop the critter into a box and bring them to our shelter.
