22.01.2022 Hi all, Thanks for those that came down to race, volunteer and spectate on Sunday. The weather behaved itself and we had a great day racing. We almost didn't go... ahead as a few people weren't well. A quick meeting was had with the drivers and we raced the 1x 15hp Senior with the 25hp class and we put the 3 big boats together. It was great to see Adam Harvey back down in his 5.7l displacement. A big congratulations goes out to Amanda Owen-Tucker for her first race win, after being so close at the November race Day. There was also some great racing between the Knudsen siblings, with both not giving each other an inch! The next race day will be on the 9th March and we will be holding the Kell Knudsen Memorial Race for 25hp and also the Graham Hull Invitational. Another reminder for everyone, is that the cell test is 15th March, Bogan Bingo is the 20th June. APBA has also brought in a Vintage Class, so we would like to see this off the ground and the WA APBA also has a 15hp junior board for sale/lease. If you know anyone interested in Racing, please get in touch with Larry Cowlin or Ben Smith. See you all soon.

10.01.2022 Important Message from the WASBC
08.01.2022 Bring Out Your Masks Attention boat builders, repairers, owners, and tinkerers! If you have any spare, or even not-so-spare, N95 designated dust masks in your... shop or inventory, find them today and donate them to your closest medical facility. These disposable facemasks, which protect against transmission of Covid-19, are currently in very short supply at almost every hospital. I passed my last 10-mask sleeve off to a favorite medical practitioner last weekend. Her gratitude and fear were palpable. Her clinic had one N95 her size in stock, and the inevitable wave of coronavirus patients in our city had not even started yet. The promised supplies of fresh masks or coronavirus test kits have yet to show up in hospitals, so these nurses, doctors, and other essential staff are left with precious few of the most necessary tools they need to confront the pandemic. Admirably and frighteningly, they will be standing in the breach for the next weeks or months with or without adequate protection equipment. I know we have some of what they need on our shop shelves and supply rooms, and while the sanding dust, stray microballoons, and laminate filaments are threats to our good health, they pale in comparison to the disaster of widespread infection and crippling of the medical profession precisely when we need all hands on deck. Of course all the builders and contractors in the country wont have reserves to see medical staff through the entire pandemic wave, but an influx now could buy valuable time and keep people protected until production and distribution of new masks can be stepped up. If theres an industry that recognizes a Dunkirk moment when we see one, it is boatbuilding. The fact is, theres no real and immediate relief from any level of government, so please give what masks you can to the closest medical facility or your favorite clinician. There are numerous national, state, and city-based efforts online to coordinate mask donationsjust do a search for your area. But at this point its likely most effective to keep it as local as possible. Find out whether your closest hospital has a designated drop-off area or, as I did, pass them on to someone you know who is likely to be heading into the dangerous arena of the pandemic response. Dont shake their hands, dont embrace them, but tell them thank you. My best hopes for us all, Aaron Porter, Editor Professional BoatBuilder magazine

02.01.2022 A reminder that we have a Committee Meeting tomorrow night 7pm 8/9/20
02.01.2022 This wonderful piece of history was shared by Harley Bairstow with the Bluebird committee at their get together and website launch at Dumbleyung Lake on Thursda...y. The original banner which welcomed Donald Campbell to Dumbleyung was in remarkably good condition after being stored away for nearly 50 years and committee members were amazed to see it looking in such good shape! No doubt it will have pride of place in the planned Bluebird Interpretive Centre. Committee members are also very excited about the new website which is also looking amazing, thanks to the hard work of talented mother and daughter team, Christine and Amy Bairstow. The project is gathering momentum with the launch of the website and all the committee are grateful for the hard work Chris and Amy put into making it happen. The lunch at the lake on Thursday was thoroughly enjoyed by committee members and their guests and thanks must also go to Helen Gooding for her catering efforts and everyone else who contributed to the lunch. A sundowner at the ski club and dinner at Louisa Dare's later in the evening, ended a great day. See more
01.01.2022 Highly competitive, intensely challenging, risky and entertaining, this means being part of a World Championship #f1h2o #powerboat #extreme #sport #worldchampionship
01.01.2022 PRESS RELEASE Coronavirus and the 2020 Taree Easter Powerboat Classic As you are aware the Commonwealth has imposed restrictions on gatherings of 500 or mo...re people in order to inhibit the effect of the Covid-19 virus spreading and other states have declared a state of emergency. Added to this, TAPBC has spoken directly to some NSW Emergency Services and have been advised that this limit is likely to be reduced to 200 or less in the very near future. The current and proposed numbers will affect the running of our 2020 Easter Powerboat Classic where large groups gathered for racing or social functions are not permitted. Our projected estimate of Entrant and Officials only have us nearing the 500, so any reduction will make it unrealistic to attempt to host the event. Further to this is the concern raised through yesterday's post advising of the event now been spectator free and the indications that people are still planning on attending against our request. As disappointed as we are, we believe that it is in the best interest of public safety that the event be POSTPONED at this time. A proposed date has not been set, as all event dates must be ratified by the National Council of the APBA but we will work with them to negotiate an event date. This has been a difficult decision for the committee, notably being the 10th anniversary of the passing of Brain McCosker and Dave Bryant, but after consultation with industry experts, medical specialists and government regulations, the ability to present a great event has been made unachievable at this time. The decision, while not forced, was clear in respect to the health and wellbeing of the entrants, crews and officials. As a club, we understand the need to limit and control the spread and as such, hope that everyone enjoys Easter with their families at home, this year. The Committee of the Taree Aquatic Powerboat Club
