18.01.2022 Looking for walkers down south Do you or someone you know live in beautiful Busselton or Dunsborough and would like to join our team of dedicated volunteers... to walk some darling dogs? If so, please tag your down south friends or family in this post Pictured is the beautiful 6 year old Great Dane Anzac who is currently looking for a walker on Monday and/or Friday. You can’t get much better than walking along the picture perfect Busselton foreshore We’d love to induct some more dog loving volunteers to help our elderly residents keep their dogs at home with them. This is proven to increase the likelihood that they can remain in their own homes for longer. To become a volunteer you must be over 18. Please visit https://www.poopswa.org.au/volunteer-application/ to complete the online application. At the time of your application you will need to have either a Police Clearance (within 12 months validity) or a current Working with Children Check (we accept a valid WWCC, but we are not an eligible sponsor organisation for a new WWCC application). For more information visit, please visit our website www.poopswa.org.au, or send an email to our wonderful Busselton Area Coordinator, Cathy at [email protected]

17.01.2022 Open to dogs of any age. Bring your dog training problems to discuss and learn from discussions with others while working on social behaviour in a busy public setting. Only ten places available... https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/696876

16.01.2022 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Do you or someone you know live in or near Westminster, Balcatta, Dianella, Bayswater or Glendalough and could offer some walks to these... beautiful dogs who are waiting patiently for some additional walks? If you are a current POOPS volunteer then please get in contact with the POOPS Central Area Coordinator - Ruth. If you would like to sign up as a volunteer then please fill in an application form: https://www.poopswa.org.au/volunteer-application/ BELLA || is an 11yr old Staffy who is deaf. She is very well behaved on walks. Bella is looking for one more walk a week for the next 10 weeks while her owner is recovering from surgery. BEN || is a 4yr old Staffy X. He is very loving but has not had consistent training so needs a strong walker. He can be very excitable, but with consistency he is really improving. Looking for 3 long walks a week. BLACKIE || is a 6yr old Labrador x Staffy who is energetic but friendly. He has mostly been walked off lead in a dog park so lead walks may be a bit tiring. Looking for early morning or late afternoon walks and someone who can work off some of his energy. Preferably walks on Mon, Tue, Wed and Fri. CASHEE || is a 5yr old Doberman who is strong and loves to run. He is a friendly boy who is looking for one new vollie to offer walks on alternating weeks for his current full time vollie. DUSTY || is a 7yr old Bull Arab who is very affectionate and great with kids. She is energetic and strong so can get over excited at other dogs but is trained and responds well to commands. Dusty is looking for walks on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

13.01.2022 This is what Grief feels like.. Don’t judge it Don’t rush it Don’t dismiss it Don’t suppress it ... There is no Rulebook for Grief. It comes in waves. And I pray for the ones who feel as though they’re drowning. This is in Switzerland~ I think it describes grief perfectly. By Albert Gyorgy and it is entitled "Mélancolie"

11.01.2022 I know most of you know this but, just I’m case .... EDIT: this does NOT apply to guiding and some other assistance dogs who have to spend extra time standing still at roadsides while their handler’s determine safe crossing times. Simple rule ... boot train your dogs and have them wear them! Anything over about 26 or 27 degrees I’d say.

10.01.2022 Just seen this. Don’t think it applies any more

09.01.2022 PLEASE LEAVE THEM IN THE SHOPS The vast majority of these rawhide products and treats come from China. Their journey starts with the hides being soaked in a... toxic sodium sulphide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are used in order to split the hide into layers which is then washed with hydrogen peroxide to give the white "pure" look and remove the rancid smell. Now comes the pretty festive colours and the glue to form cute shapes. They regularly cause intestinal blockages and choking. The chews go slippery when wet and are near impossible to get hold of to save a choking dog. Please be safe with your dogs!
