22.01.2022 Back To Basics Zoom catch up Today’s Let’s do coffee! meeting was presented by Beth & Gini Gale. Beth demonstrated how to make Lemon Cordial using fresh lemons from their tree and also card making using pictures and graphics from newspapers, magazines etc. Thank you to Beth & Gini Gale for today's presentation. Sandra and Helen described their methods of turning their food scraps into compost. Sandra has built a magnificent hardwood compost system to assist with producing gr...eat soil (correct amount of carbon & nitrogen) for her vege garden. Helen buries a week's worth of food scraps in her garden and digs a new shallow hole each week. The food breaks down and Helen digs it into her soil for growing veges. Sandra shared her uses for her aloe plant and how she utilises the plants around her to make essential oils for many uses including hand cream. Sandra's latest is a magnificent pure peppermint geranium oil. Narelle shared about her latest 'Be Connected' workshops in Wallaroo and Charlton and upcoming workshops in Naracoorte, Lochaber and Coonalpyn. Our next Let's do coffee! will be presented by Jane Smith at 10.30am on Wednesday, 16th September. Please email Narelle Scott if you would like to attend the Zoom meeting and you will be emailed the invitation with link.

19.01.2022 Narelle Scott hosted yet another "Back to Basics" presentation on 22nd October 2020!
18.01.2022 This App is excellent and worth downloading.
17.01.2022 Beth Ortlepp, Secretary/Treasurer cuts the birthday cake to celebrate Padthaway Branch’s 55th birthday. Lunch was Serbian style with the room decorated in their country’s colours of red, white and blue. This colour scheme was carried through to Gini Gale’s decor. Might I say that the Serbian Apricot Torte that I made was so good!

14.01.2022 Do you or a friend/family run a business?
11.01.2022 We created history in our group today, staging our first-ever online AGM via Zoom. Covid-19 has caused many changes as to how we have operated this year and our AGM was no different. It was lovely to see so many smiling faces.... Thanks to all attendees, those who nominated for positions for the coming year and to those who will be continuing in their 2 year term portfolios and positions. Special thanks to Thelma Newman, our retiring Historian of many years. Special thanks also to our President, Narelle Scott, who has been at the helm during these unprecedented events and creating new ways for WAB to thrive. Thanks also to our guest speaker, Alice Arbuckle from Guide Dogs.
11.01.2022 Lovely to see that our WAB Mallee Region participated in Get Online Week.
10.01.2022 What an interesting webinar WAB members and friends participated in on Wednesday, October 21 presented by Sally Grundy of Mundoo Island, situated between the Lower Lakes of the River Murray and the Coorong in SA. The migratory shorebirds that fly south to this area for our summer, then return to the northern hemisphere Arctic regions to breed fly thousands of kilometres, most without touching down in between. They can cover the distance to the moon and back in a lifetime. Sal...ly has her camera close by as she works on their farm. This provides more detail to help her identify around 100 different species of birds on and around the shoreline of the island. Her power point of photos illustrated the details used to identify each type: colour, shape and size of beaks, tails, legs and plumage all enable Sally to make an accurate identification. She is a very active surveyor of birds, fish, turtles, tadpoles and frogs as a citizen scientist providing excellent information to those monitoring the health and location of these animals, some of which are endangered. Thank you Sally Grundy
09.01.2022 Today we had a fun and enlightening Online Branch Zoom meeting! Thank you to our Online Branch Facilitator, Roz Rowett, for running the meeting. Our Covid-19 time has led to some interesting 'Back to basics" activities including quilting, photography courses, baking bread, learning new computer skills (including Zoom and You Tube) and gardening.
09.01.2022 Charlton WAB Branch did a magnificent display in their local newsagent shop to celebrate Anzac Day
05.01.2022 WAB President Narelle Scott visited our Charlton branch recently to conduct a "Be Connected" course and to present WAB awards to recipients. Congratulations to our award recipients - especially 50 year awards to Sally Packer and Lee Russell!
05.01.2022 We have had an exciting time with "Back to Basics" presentations from Cindy Cross and Sophie Thomson as well as a guest appearance from our very own Sandra Young. Brilliantly hosted by State President, Narelle Scott. These presentations are part of WAB’s Get online week activities to promote the Federally funded Be Connected courses for Over 50’s to assist them to get online. Cindy shared excellent demonstrations of her parsley pesto sauce for pasta, aioli and tartare sauce.... Cindy then took us on a hosted walk through her magnificent vegetable garden and hot house. Sophie shared some wonderful gardening tips with us. The important 'take-home' messages were: 1. Out of 100 bugs in your garden, only 1 is a classified pest! 2. No need to apply anything on your aphids - in 10 to 14 days nature will clean up your aphid problem naturally! 3. Daisies are a composite flower that are great for good bugs, grow any daisies - all year round! Sandra shared a demonstration of her home made hand scrub.
