22.01.2022 After starting off goal umpiring for a number of years while watching his boys play at the Noranda Juniors, Richard joined the WAAFL goal umpiring panel in 1999 at the age of 47. In 2000 Richard joined the umpires committee and was made treasurer, a role which he performed admirably for the next 19 years, including running the BBQ for after training events. So after 20 seasons and 668 games later Rich took last season off due to a cancer diagnosis. Richard’s other accolades a...long the way was the 2001 WAAFLUA Patrons Award, the 2012 WAFC Umpiring Appreciation Award and his proudest achievement to date the 2013 WACFUA Life Membership award. In 2019 the association nominated Richard for Life Membership of the WAAFL/PFL and last night his life membership medallion was officially presented by the League President Sam Birmingham and Board member and fellow umpire Bill Armstrong, with Richards wife and son also proudly in attendance. 16.01.2022 UMPIRE MILESTONE Congratulations to Rod Clarke who umpires his 1300th game tomorrow in the B Grade match between West Coast & Ballajura. Rod is only the seco...nd umpire to reach this milestone and has had a remarkable career, originally as a Field Umpire and now in his 14th year as a Goal Umpire in Senior Community Football. 15.01.2022 The Perth Football League is postponing the commencement of the 2020 season until Saturday 13th June 2020, which is the scheduled midway point of the current fi...xtured season. Clubs to cease training and club-based activities effective immediately until 31st May 2020. The League has commenced re-fixturing and re-grading current team nominations for a nine round season.
