25.01.2022 The year 2000 millennium 50 cent coin has what is called an incused variety. Incused in this case, is when the coin's design is impressed on the coin so that the pattern sinks into the flan The red dot on the cover photo shows the location of the incused section of the flag, The Cross of St George, which is commonly found flat rather than indented.... The diagonal crosses are also incused. So if you look carefully at your 50 coins from 2000 then you might just find this variety! 09.01.2022 2019 Perth Stamp & Coin Show is a three day show in November and will bring together not only International, Interstate and local stamp, coin, banknote, postcard, militaria including medals & collectable dealers but also local collectors with their own single tables selling their excess or unwanted material, very similar to the European "Flea Market" style stamp shows. This will be a drawcard for all collectors as it means there is something for everybody's budget. The inaugu...ral show in 2012 was hugely popular with a strong turnout of collectors and has continued since with an increased number of dealers and larger crowds through the door resulting in 2017 having the first 3 day show. This show has now become an annual event and the only Perth show that features both stamp and coin/banknote dealers in one location, in fact a fantastic opportunity for dealers and collectors to buy and sell. The following is a brief summary Three day event at the South Perth Community Centre, South Perth Stamps, postcards, coins, banknotes, militaria, medals & collectables International, interstate & local dealers Australia Post in attendance with Limited Edition products Local collectors "flea market" tables Plenty of parking & café facilities Free stamp, postcard, coin, banknote, militaria & medal valuations $2500+ worth of prizes to be won Limited edition overprinted PNC's (order before the show to guarantee) FREE ENTRY

08.01.2022 This is the new 2020 dollar coin celebrating the QANTAS CENTENARY. For a short time we are able to supply bags of 10 of these from our ebay store trevorscoinsperth. This is a "free post" Cash and carry from our shop is a cheaper option. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/133327868421... The queue was long. I probably lined up for over an hour.

02.01.2022 I found this interesting Daily News advertisement from the Perth Mint dated 14.11.84. Even then, the Perth Mint were strong in retail numismatic sales. These interesting pieces pop up every now and again. The secret is to get one in the original box with certificate. The best medallion is one that has not been handled. Sometimes they have very colourful toning which many regard as an enhancing feature. My recommendation is not to be tempted to clean the medallion should toning be present. Remember also that when handling a coin or medallion the best practice is to hold it on the rim and not the face of the item.BTW this example in the photo is available for $75 pph from our WA Coins shop. 93281410

02.01.2022 The latest dollar coin is the Donation Dollar coin. The Royal Australian Mint is to produce millions of daily reminders to give" The following is a media release - In the lead up to International Day of Charity (September 5th), the Royal Australian Mint (the Mint) is releasing the world’s first Donation Dollar: a one dollar coin designed to be donated. According to new research, three in five (57%) Australians say they would be likely to donate this coin if found in their c...hange. The Mint, as part of its annual release program, intends to distribute millions of these Donation Dollar coins in to circulation over the coming years one for every Australian. Each of these unique coins features a green centre with a gold ripple design symbolising the ongoing impact each donation makes to those who need it most. Australians could start to see the new daily reminders to give appearing in their change from today, as a first run of 3 million coins have been released into circulation. This innovative concept comes after a tumultuous year for Australia - having faced a bushfire crisis, an ongoing global pandemic and an economic recession leaving many Australians in need of a helping hand. According to new findings in the Australian Generosity Report, one in five Australians say they’ll require some degree of charitable aid over the next 12 months, either for themselves or family. Thankfully, 50% of Aussies are willing to do their bit, believing it’s important more than ever to give to charity in the current climate. With two in five Australians saying finding a Donation Dollar in their change would encourage them to give to charity more, the Mint is hoping the new coins will promote charitable behaviours and provide Australians with a tangible way to give back to those who need it most - not just in times of crisis, but all year round, in smaller amounts, more often."
