18.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE Time is ticking for Altum Property Group as the Queensland Government is accused of stalling the sale process of Great Keppel Island. With 14 days until the state parliament is dissolved, One Nation candidate Wade Rothery has accused Labor of dragging its feet at the expense of 6000 local jobs.... Mr. Rothery said, We’ve had two terms of broken promises under the current Member for Keppel, and in the crucial days before the writs are issued by the Governor, this Labor Government continue to hold out on transferring the lease over to Altum so they can proceed with the sale." Countless state bureaucrats have each been milking a six-figure salary out of this project for at least two years and yet we see no results. The One Nation candidate is calling on the outgoing state Tourism Minister, Kate Jones to ensure the sale goes through before she retires from Parliament. Mr. Rothery said, "Kate Jones flew into the region just last month to break the news that Labor was no longer following through with their $30 million commitment to connect power and water to the island, but instead would spend a portion of that money on island infrastructure. What the Minister failed to do is give a guarantee on precisely what that money would be spent on. If Labor won’t connect the power and water, it’s important that this new pledge of money is spent on building a break wall which will benefit every operator and resident business on Great Keppel Island. Mr. Rothery said. "A break wall will ensure all-weather access for barge operators who ferry stock and materials to business operators on the island, but also ensure the feasibility of any new development." Core business operation experts, Deloitte’s are expected to again sign off on the feasibility of the redevelopment project if the Queensland Government guarantees the funds towards a break wall as the priority, along with other infrastructure announced by Kate Jones on 18th August. Mr. Rothery said, If the current contract falls over between now and the Queensland election, you can kiss any revitalisation and redevelopment project goodbye. We’ve now seen two very capable Australian companies come to the region with good intentions for Great Keppel Island, only to be left millions out of pocket and badly burnt by a government who wrap them up in red tape. The sale contract for Great Keppel Island expires on October 30, 2020. ## END ##

16.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE One Nation leader Pauline Hanson is warning the Queensland Premier, that history is full of deposed politicians who thought they could leave decisions until the future, as the state government continues to stifle the sale of Great Keppel Island. Under Queensland legislation, the caretaker period will commence on October 5, leaving just days for the current Government to guarantee vital infrastructure or risk losing another Australian investor to the region. ... Senator Hanson said, If the proponents can’t get a straight answer out of the Labor Government on what they intend to spend redirected money on, what hope have voters got of getting a reply? I spoke directly with Kate Jones last weekend and encouraged her to do the right thing with the money that Labor originally promised to connect undersea power and water to the island. The idea of Labor using $25 million for walking paths is a waste when it should be put into a break wall." Great Keppel Island first went under contract with Altum Property Group in July 2019, but following 14 months of arduous consultation with the Queensland Government, the sale remains in limbo. I’ve backed this project like so many locals for years, but it’s like flogging a dead horse under this Labor Government. Senator Hanson said. I’ve spoken with several Federal Government Ministers who have not ruled out additional funding for Great Keppel Island, but have said that until the sale is complete and the leases are transferred, it’s difficult for them to make any financial commitment to the project." One Nation candidate for Keppel, Wade Rothery has firmly backed using state government funding for a break wall over upgraded walking tracks. Mr. Rothery said, The break wall is a vital piece of infrastructure that will benefit all island businesses and residents while ensuring barges and commercial tourism operators have an all-weather, all-tide location to pull up to. This is the third election we’ve had to fight to encourage Labor to genuinely support Great Keppel Island. Unless there’s a change in voting habits at this election, I’m afraid the rejuvenation and development will likely never happen. If this Queensland owned property group are forced to walk away from the deal due to government incompetence, it will be the final nail in the coffin for serious tourism on Great Keppel Island. The island contract will expire on October 30 with Senator Hanson reaffirming her commitment to speak directly with the outgoing Queensland Minister for Tourism on Monday. ## END ##

16.01.2022 WOW The incumbent Labor candidate for Rockhampton Barry ORourke has just declined to being present to a debate against fellow candidates on Thursday night. 14.01.2022 ENOUGH IS ENOUGH A bloated public servant hiring spree is another reason why Keppel continues to miss out on adequate state funding to get projects off the ground. I'm not talking about front-line public servants like nurses, police, ambulance, and teachers. I'm talking about pen pushers who contribute to the red tape that prevents businesses and everyday Queenslanders from getting on with the job.... The blowout in public servants rose by $5.5 billion each year with almost 35,000 new full-time equivalent positions created under this Labor government. Is there any wonder why the Labor state government refuse to fund a new high school for Emu Park? Is there any wonder why the Labor state government back flipped on connecting power and water to Great Keppel Island? Is there any wonder why the Labor state government haven't started work on fixing the despicable and deadly Rocky to Yeppoon road? Urgent change is required to offer the people of Keppel real representation and proper accountability when spending taxpayers money. https://www.couriermail.com.au//e7a8fc330cbf9d335b8831d9b6 #Auspol #OneNation #PaulineHanson #WadeRothery #Keppel #Yeppoon #EmuPark #Cawarral #TheCaves #Rockhampton #KeppelSands

10.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE Hedlow airport has finally been guaranteed compensation by the state government following damage to the runway during last November’s bushfires. Airport manager Judy Moisy has thanked One Nation candidate, Wade Rothery for his assistance in placing pressure on the Labor Government to ‘make good’ for the wear and tear caused by the weight of water bombers that helped save Livingstone Shire properties during last years fire season.... Mr. Rothery said, I’m pleased to have been able to help Judy and her family, and I’m grateful that the state government has come to their senses. The compensation will ensure the runway is returned to operational standards as we re-enter another dry fire season. The runway on Old Byfield Road has been vital to the emergency helicopter and fixed-wing operations for almost a decade of floods and bush fires. In 2011, when the property was purchased by a former Blackwater grazing family, they re-opened the strip to aviators and gave permission for Capricorn Rescue to conduct winching exercises and night vision training. Annual water bombing has also been conducted by emergency service personnel and the field has served as an emergency pick up point for the Royal Flying Doctors Service when Rockhampton’s commercial airport lay underwater and inoperable during the floods. But as four water-bombing aircraft conducted countless takeoffs and landings, laden with 4-tonne payloads of crucial water in November 2019, they severely damaged the privately-owned airstrip. The owners agreed that the damage to the runway was secondary to the lives and property they were helping to save. Judy and her family have never asked the state government for a cent to use the airfield over the last nine years. Mr. Rothery said. "They’ve seen it as a part of their community service, but after seven days of relentless and tireless work to assist fire crews on the ground, the damage bill to the Hedlow airstrip was far too much for this family to wear the cost of. The compensation will ensure repairs to the airstrip are carried out sooner rather than later, which will assist in future emergency aircraft assistance to the region." ## END ##

07.01.2022 RURAL FIRE SERVICE POLITICAL REPORT CARD The Queensland Rural Fire Service have today released their report card on political parties at this election following a survey they conducted. An 'X' indicates SUPPORT, while a 'BLANK SPACE' represents NO SUPPORT.... Over the years, we've seen how vital the Queensland Rural Fire Service have been to our area, even as recent as last November where they battled the Cobraball fires that rapidly spread towards Woodbury. Any politician can have their photo with a volunteer fire fighter and post it to Facebook, but when it comes to the vote in parliament, this organisation and its people deserve our support. Actions speak louder than words. You be the judge which parties deserve your vote at this election. #Auspol #OneNation #PaulineHanson #WadeRothery #Keppel #FireFighting #Volunteer

01.01.2022 ONE NATION FORCE LABOR TO EXPAND FUNDING TO KEPPEL Last week I brought to the public’s attention that Yeppoon’s commercial tourism boat operators were excluded from the State Governments COVID-19 Marine Tourism Rebate. I called on the Premier to come to her senses and support our struggling tourism operators. ... Despite initially being ridiculed by the local Member for Keppel, I have some good news! They were forced to listen. The rebate will now help businesses like Freedom Fastcats, Great Keppel Hideaway and the Pumpkin Island Express cover some of their unavoidable expenses. It’s amazing what Keppel can achieve with a Member who has an ear to the ground and is willing to represent the region. http://www.themorningbulletin.com.au//yeppoon-tou/4107010/ #Auspol #PaulineHanson #OneNation #WadeRothery #Keppel
