08.01.2022 Posting on behalf of the Lancelin Boardriders, whose page is private. Please share to anyone who may be interested in getting involved: The future of the Boardriders 20/21 Hi all. Three of us met at the Angling Club tonight and talked about the future of the club. ... Did you know that Tony Grieve, Alison Elari and a few other crew (Fiona Court, Steve Hutchinson to name a few only!) began the club in 1999! In that time we have watched many generations of kids grow their love of surfing. Some have even gone on to represent our State in major surfing competitions. After so much time, it is no surprise that the time has come for some big changes. We can no longer continue as the unincorporated club that we have managed to operate pretty successfully for so long. We need some new blood to rejuvenate and grow the club, and take it into the next stage of its development. This can only happen if some brave and interested people put their hand up to form the committee. I have drafted a constitution which aims to keep everything pretty casual as far as meetings go, and will need to be ratified by all members. As I am a busy person, like so many of us these days, I am keen to limit the amount of times we have to meet in person (this is reflected in the constitution which means we can email each other and it counts as a meeting :)). So I am requesting that anyone interested in being involved in helping to reshape the future of this club contact me (Tina Broughton) either by posting a comment to this post or messaging me (or call me if you have my number!). While we don't want to rush into anything, if we are looking to hold any fun days this season, we need to agree on the constitution and incorporate the club sooner rather than later as we are no longer able to get insured without being incorporated. Once we have a group of interested people we will set a date to have the first AGM where we will ratify the constitution, form a committee and start the incorporation process. Once we have that we can get fun days rolling again, if that's what we decide as a group to do. This is YOUR club people so your involvement, feedback, ideas and suggestions about 'where to from here' are absolutely welcomed, however hair brain or simple they may seem, so do not hesitate to let us know. Looking forward to helping move this group into the next phase of its life!
