25.01.2022 INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY Yesterday was International Womens Day with the theme for 2020 being "I am Generation Equality: Realising Womens Rights" The WAEC recognises the rights of women and are proud that our state and country was one of the most progressive in the world in granting women the right to vote and stand in parliament. In 1921, Edith Cowan became the first female MP when elected to WAs Legislative Assembly.... In 1962, suffrage was achieved for Indigenous men and women in Western Australia. We would like to acknowledge those who fought for equality and the right to participate in democracy. #internationalwomensday #eachforequal #IWD2020
