24.01.2022 Thank you to all who visited last Sunday, it was great to see so many of you enjoying the spring bulbs across the gardens. We have decided to open the gardens for another two weekends to make the spring flowering available to more people. The revised open garden dates for 2020 are: October 10th and 25th, November 7-8th, and 15th.

22.01.2022 Just a couple of beauties out at the moment. We will be open next Saturday - the Maddenii rhododendrons should be swinging - they're not extraordinary plants on the whole, but they have stunning blooms, and some are fragrant - mostly found along the trails. Also the Azaleas are swelling up so there should be a few blooming as well. The very biggest rhododendron is starting to bloom so it should have a bit of a show - it will be worth a visit if you're able to do a little walking. Im also hoping to dress the chapel up to show how it looks for a wedding. If you know someone looking for a gorgeous wedding setting, share this post with them! Hopefully see some of you then.

18.01.2022 We are running an open garden day again this Sunday! To coincide with the azalea peak flowering ( a small window of flowering which doesn’t last long) Waratahs, vireyas, and some of the old rhododendrons. 10am to 4pm, entry fees apply. Also you’ll See the chapel dressed with flowers for the wedding last Tuesday. The gardens are wonderful from now to mid November. The November open dates are the 6th- 7th and the weekend of Longford Blooms (14th) when most of the big old rhodos will be blooming.

18.01.2022 Absolute full-on peak blooming of the old rhodos now at the gardens. Open garden Saturday and Sunday this coming weekend 10-4. They’re peaking early this year I think?

05.01.2022 Sometimes it pays to look up! I bought this plant several years ago (can’t remember where) as had a tag r. Lindleyii - a species I had been hunting for ages (it’s a parent of the hybrid Kallista). I’ve waited years for it to flower- it’s a straggly tall plant and the blooms tower above me at around3 metres! But Red Dragon Nursey had a look at it and told me it’s definitely NOT Lindleyii Just as well it’s a big garden and can accommodate the also rans! Still a nice surprise to see the first of these giant maddeniis blooming for this season. Other Kallistas swelling up with nuttalliis ato follow.

05.01.2022 Open gardens sat and Sunday 10-4. The largest, oldest massed rhododendrons in Australia are in FULL bloom right now
