16.01.2022 This is what trekking Kokoda means to those who have done it. Some great testimonies from a young lady who trekked last year as part of the the Kokoda Youth Leadership program. Sometimes the impact of the trek is immediate, for others it may take time to reflect and draw on what they have learnt to see how it has made a difference to their life.

16.01.2022 Great news to hear.

16.01.2022 Trekkers please fill out this questionnaire for Jessie. Hi my name is Jessie Webb, and i did Kokoda in 2019 and this questionnaire is for my Personal Interest Project for HSC Society and Culture about the Kokoda Trail and in particular those who have experienced it. 10.01.2022 Thomas Blamey, born near Wagga Wagga on 24 January 1884, became the first Australian army officer to reach the rank of field marshal. He was in England when WWI... began and joined the 1st Australian Division in Egypt. He landed at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915 and, on the Western Front, was appointed Chief of Staff and served as General Staff Officer 1 in the 1st Division until June 1918. Shortly after the start of WWII, Blamey was given command of the 6th Division, and the following year he became commander of the Australian Corps. In December 1941 he reached the rank of General. Blamey had a controversial career professionally and personally, but was promoted to field marshal on 8 June 1950. He died on 27 May 1951. Blamey conducted a series of successful offensives in New Guinea in 1943 but was criticised late in the war when Australians were involved in operations against long-bypassed Japanese units in New Guinea and Borneo. 08.01.2022 Some sad news in from Kokoda today, with the passing of Sister Margret. This amazing women worked at the Kokoda Hospital for over 20 years. Over this time Sister Margret would have seen many changes, and cared for patients suffering from a range of illnesses, including TB, HIV and deliver babies in what some would say not ideal conditions. An amazing generous women, that we would always visit ( when she wasn't busy) to donate items for use in the hospital. A true heroine of PNG. May you rest in peace Sister Margert, your noble duty is done and your saviour has called you home.

01.01.2022 This is an important petition to sign. We need to keep the funding for the Kokoda track Memorial walkway. This walkway is vital in remembering what our diggers did in PNG and is the only Kokoda dedicated memorial. As the memories and lights of our diggers fade we need to keep their flame alive.
