25.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS Minister Robert announces new measures to support NDIS participants and providers through COVID-19 Many thanks to Disability Services Consulting f...or their words which I have stolen here! NDIS Minister, Stuart Robert has just announced new measures to support providers and participants through COVID-19. The announcement noted that there will be more changes to come. Here's what we know so far: PLANNING Participants can request to have their planning meetings over the phone People who are happy with their current plan can ask for it be renewed for up to 24 months The NDIA will allow some people to shift capacity building funding to funding for core supports in consultation with special teams of planners in the NDIA. The NDIA will be reaching out to "targeted higher risk NDIS participants" to ensure these people continue to receive the essential disability related supports they need. PROVIDER SUPPORT Registered NDIS providers may receive a one-month advance payment based on a monthly average supports delivered in the previous 3 month period to provide immediate cash flow relief. A 10% COVID-19 loading will be added to price limits for certain supports for up to six months: Assistance with Daily Life (excluding Supported Independent Living) and Assistance with Social and Community Participation) Improved Daily Living Cancellations can now be charged at 100% of cancelled service and definition of short notice will be broadened. Providers can also continue to claim for the increased use of cleaning and personal protective equipment associated with COVID-19. There is clearly some detail to be filled in to these announcements, which we will share as soon as we have it. It... is with much excitement and pleasure to announce that our Charity Partner for next year is WAGGA AUTISM GROUP. They are a group that support many families around the Riverina and we look forward to working with them. Please get behind this organisation as it is run on very limited funding and volunteers. 06.01.2022 Dear Superhero Walk Supporters Yesterday, the Commonwealth Government, announced a ban on large gatherings in response to the (COVID-19) Pandemic declaration. The ban affects all gatherings of 500 or more people (except schools, universities and workplaces).... The Wagga Autism Support Group (WASG) Management Committee has determined, it will postpone the upcoming 2020 Superhero Walk. The Committee acknowledges the maximum number of participants will be well below 500 threshold however, it believes the vulnerability of a large number of the participants who have Autism and other significant medical conditions poses a risk that should not be accepted. As a support group, our highest priority must be the health and safety of our vulnerable community, their carers, families and the wider community. The Wagga Autism Support Group is hopeful, the 2020 Superhero Walk can take place later in the year, when prevailing conditions allow us to join together and celebrate the most special Superheros we have in our local community! In the meantime please take care of each other and stay safe. The Management Committee Wagga Autism Support Group
