Just arrived are "Sleep 101" and "Whine Guide" - written for the grownups, with tongue firmly in cheek, but still suitable for kids. You'll find them (through blurry, sleep-deprived eyes) in the favourites tub!

18.01.2022 Depression and anxiety during pregnancy and the first year of parenting (the perinatal period) affects around 20% of mothers, and 10% of fathers. Gidget House is based out of the Tresilliian building in Glenfield, and is available to any expectant and new parents who have a diagnosis of, or are at risk of developing, a perinatal mood or anxiety disorder. Support is also provided to people who have experienced a pregnancy or childbirth-related loss, such as stillbirth, miscar...riage or termination, within the last 12 months. You can access up to 10 psychological counselling sessions free of charge within a calendar year. To access this service, you'll need a referral from a GP, including a mental health care plan. This means we get to showcase some super picture books about science, and instead of craft, there are kitchen science experiments to recreate at home. Today's book is Do Not Lick This Book, written by Idan Ben-Barak and illustrated by Julian Frost (plus some amazing microscope photos by Linnea Rundgren), published by Allen & Unwin. Join microbe Min and her friends as she visits a tooth, a shirt, and a bellybutton! If you are wanting the... facts behind the fiction or to do more research, Min is a an e-coli, Rae is a streptococcus, Dennis is a fungus and Jake is a corynebacterium. If you don't have the ingredients for the skittle experiment at home - feel free to pop into the library to collect an experiment kit which has everything you need plus a bonus activity!
