21.01.2022 Mixed Pairs 2020 Club Championship.Semi Finals Max & Carol Sanbrook 18 d Jack & Trish Whyte 17. Nick Williams & Sue Brown 24 d Brian Lawrence & Marilyn Hillier 8. FINAL between Max & Carol Sanbrook v Nick Williams & Sue Brown. The Sanbrook team jumped away early to lead 6/1 after four ends. The Williams team then fought back to level it at 7 all after 8 ends. The match then was taken away from the Sanbrooks with the score at 23/8 after fourteen ends. The final score being 25... to 11. Ends won favoured the Williams team 10/7. With some great bowls being played by all taking part.The win was a just reward for the many hours Sue & Nick put in on the practice green . The Jackson team then started their fight back winning five of the remaining seven ends . With the score 19/17 in favour of the Williams team going into the last end the Jackson boys rallied winning the end with 3 shots & grabbing the title by one shot. Overall the Williams team won the ends 13 to 8 but to the credit of the Jackson team they fought on till the end & were rewarded with a great win. The match was of a very high standard with great bowls being produced by all four contestants.
