12.01.2022 TRIBUTES FLOW FOR HOLDEN A local mechanic says he was heart-broken to learn that iconic Australian car brand Holden will be axed by the end of the year. Par...ent company General Motors made the announcement yesterday, saying the brand is no longer competitive in the current market. Leeton mechanic and lifetime Holden owner Wayne Alyett says the news came as a huge shock. But he says he's confident there will be a good supply of spare parts for at least the next decade. "In the servicing side of things, I don't think there's going to be any issue at all with being able to get parts for the foreseeable future," Mr Alyett said. "Maybe in the sourcing of crash supplies, you know, like mud guards and bonnets and things when a car has an accident," he said. "That might be a problem in the future but I'm not sure what Holden has up their sleeve."

06.01.2022 Innovative solutions to single use plastic continue to be created and acted upon world wide. And many of them involve the plants that are growing around us. T...ran Minh Tien lives in Vietnam and is the owner of ng Hút C., a company that makes two kinds of straws out of sedge grass. He arrived at the innovative idea of using a species of grass called Lepironia Articulata, locally known as co bang, which grows around the Mekong Delta region in southwestern Vietnam, through his desire to do something to help in the battle against plastic. 01.01.2022 This year’s Swap Meet is obviously under a cloud, as are many other events. The committee had advised that a decision would be made late April to determine whether this event can still proceed. In light of daily government advice imposing greater restrictions on public gatherings, it is quite likely the Swap will either be postponed or cancelled this year. We will keep you informed and thank you for your support. If you have inquiries regarding payments already made, we will provide further information about this shortly.
