25.01.2022 The tree planting has begun. Magical moments
22.01.2022 Thought Id share some of the people that inspire me to keep on going in this very looooong drought. The Permaculture Pantry continue to be so productive. Went and harvested my chillies after reading one of their posts the other day as I was inspired to make my own chilli powder. Might try and make mild, medium, hot and lethal for a crazy friend who likes it extra hot
22.01.2022 Who is NOT thinking about H20 at this time. My mind is consumed with it, how to make it , how to slow it how to hold it. There is a good chance that when the rain does come it will be extreme so we are preparing for it. Some of my favourite permaculture peeps have been sharing so many great water related ideas. I have dragged out my Permie design course notes and watched loads of videos and chosen a few methods to use. We are cleaning up some dry bush areas, replan...ting with natives and putting in a new dam with swales. Also a new banana circle, maybe a pawpaw circle too. So exciting . Not to mention mulch, mulch, mulch, compost, compost, A friend gave me a few vetiver plants last year and I have been growing and dividing them up. It is such a resilient and useful grass and we will use it around the earthworks with other beneficial plants. Looking forward to a productive 2020 #drought #vetiver #water #h20 #rain #raindance #permaculture #regeneration #permaculturedesign #permaculturedesigncourse #permaculturestudent #foodforest #wwoof See more
22.01.2022 If you want the best eggs chooks have gotta have their greens. Todays delights are radish, rocket and lemon balm leaves.
22.01.2022 I started my no dig beds in August 2018. Weve had drought and fires and a nutgrass invasion followed by a pumpkin invasion (not complaining about that one) in between. Turns out there was quite a bit of digging trying to build up mini swales to slow the water run off down the hill. There has been a few rethinks along the way and the bee herbs that have taken over are now being moved to different areas to make room for more food crops for the humans. All looking rather lush right now and it is a great time for planting with the cooler weather and this lovely rain we have been having. Life is good
22.01.2022 Ive never seen this much action on the sunflowers before

21.01.2022 The chickens love it when I make cheese and they get to drink the whey.
21.01.2022 We have had our share of threatening fires but happy to say we are still producing food on Waggle Dance Farm. Of course expansion has taken a back seat but hoping our water management skills means we still have a chance of saving our established trees and gardens too. The drought aint over yet though so keep up the rain dancing

16.01.2022 Between the drought, the fires and the mosquito plague its been a hard slog for people on the land but for now things are looking up on this farm. We have a koala tree planting project happening very soon. 1000 baby trees ready to be planted out by some amazing people. Very excited about that I am seeing green frogs all over the place for the first time in a long time. This one hanging out in the stinky comfrey tea bucket The chickens got some lovely cuddles .... I picked 2 kilo of rosella to dry for tea I reclaimed the veg part of the garden after a pumpkin take over. I have harvested my first big loofahs, weird things. We have HAY, WE HAVE HAY, YAY which has been as scarce as toilet paper for a year A garden with no mulch is not water efficient Now I can get planting. Feeling very, very grateful See more
