19.01.2022 DEVELOPING A BUSHFIRE PLAN Bushfires are unpredictable and happen every year. The single biggest killer is indecision. To survive a bushfire you must be prepared to make your own decisions. Taking 5 minutes to improve or make a plan, will give your property, your family and yourself the best chance of survival should you be threatened by a bushfire. It walks you through the decision making process for your fire planning, so that you and your family can make an informed decisi...on about whether to be safe and leave early, or be prepared to stay and defend. When Planning for bushfires: It’s really important to create a plan BEFORE an emergency happens. Knowing your plan in advance will help to keep you and your family safer. Take 5 Minutes with your household or neighbours to improve or make a plan. Ensure your plan considered the limitations and needs of all family members. https://www.dfes.wa.gov.au/firechat/Pages/default.htm

18.01.2022 The Waggrakine Bushfire Brigade would like to send our condolences to family and friends of Craig Wing with his sudden passing. Craig was a valued past member of our Brigade and a well respected Fire Control Officer for our volunteers and community. Our thoughts are with Nicole, Chelsea, Jared and Hayley during this difficult time. Rest in peace Craig and thank you for your service

18.01.2022 With summer starting tomorrow and many grass and bushfires already burning, it's a timely reminder to start preparing for bushfires. While the risk of bushfir...es isn't as high as last summerdue to an active La Niña which suggests wetter-than-average conditions for much of the countryfires will still occur. Southeastern Australia in particular is one of the most fire-prone regions in the world and even short periods of hot and dry weather can increase the risk of fire in summer. Understanding fire weather means you can be better prepared and help you stay safe. Learn more from our blog: http://ow.ly/zFLl50CxDDN
