25.01.2022 To continue keeping WA safe, asymptomatic COVID-19 testing will now be available for border and hotel quarantine workers. DETECT Borders, the new volunteer testing program, will allow those at a higher risk of infection from travellers, to have asymptomatic testing. The focused testing program will ensure our State will be in a good position to limit potential outbreaks as quickly as possible.... To encourage maximum participation, the new testing will be available at all existing clinics and some workplaces. 24.01.2022 A building bonus boost has been announced today as part of the new COVID-19 industry support fund. An additional $30 million boost will be allocated to the Building Bonus program to meet the high demand for the COVID-19 stimulus measure. The $3 million package, funded by the WA Governments COVID-19 Industry Support Fund, will help local businesses cover their fixed operating costs. If you are planning to enter WA from a 'very low risk' state or territory, you must declare if you have knowingly been in contact with someone from a 'low risk' or 'medium risk' area. This will mean extra precautions will be required, to protect you and others, when you arrive in WA. ... You will need to wear a mask when you arrive at the airport; and You will be required to self-quarantine at a suitable premises for 14 days. These measures are important to keep WA safe and strong. 19.01.2022 Supporting agricultural industries to secure workers. The WA Government is introducing new measures to support WA’s agricultural and horticultural industry to fill critical labour gaps for this season’s harvest. WA growers will now have access to workers via the Seasonal Worker Program and Pacific Labour Scheme. This means workers who have already completed 14 days’ quarantine at the Howard Springs facility in the Northern Territory will be able to travel to WA to fil...l critical labour shortages in the agricultural and horticultural industry. There will also be an allowance for greater movement of critical agricultural workers from interstate, subject to the usual isolation and quarantine requirements. 18.01.2022 State-run hotel quarantine staff are now subject to mandatory COVID-19 testing to better protect them and all Western Australians. The regular testing program will occur every 7 days for security personnel and cleaning staff at all State-run quarantine hotels. The mandatory testing will be in addition to existing protection measures:... Regular refresher training in the correct application and removal of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Infection prevention and control practices by trained public health nurses. Other staff employed at State-run quarantine hotels have access to testing under the DETECT Borders program. All frontline workers can undertake asymptomatic testing at COVID-19 clinics as often as every seven days. We are grateful for all workers in high risk environments and these measures will keep them, their families and our State better protected.
18.01.2022 How do I get to my quarantine hotel or self-isolation address from the airport? An authorised officer will direct you at the airport. If you are given a centre direction, which refers to the mandatory state quarantine at a hotel, transport will be provided for you.... For those who are exempt to self-isolate at home, it may be advised to have a family member of a person who will be isolating with you to pick you up from the airport. In the event you are isolating by yourself, with the correct PPE, you may be advised to take an Uber or taxi directly to your self-isolation address. If your car is at the airport then you will be directed to drive yourself to your self-isolation address. Each situation is different and an authorised officer will meet you upon arrival and provide a direction for your own particular circumstance.
18.01.2022 As the weather warms up, there will be more opportunities to host large community events. Events with more than 500 attendees may now be hosted subject to approval from the relevant local government authority. Previously, events of this size could only operate if they were part of core business. To demonstrate an event can operate safely, event organisers will need to complete a COVID Event Plan outlining the public health measures put in place to keep patrons safe. 15.01.2022 From Saturday, 14 November at 12.01am, Western Australia will transition to a safe and sensible controlled border arrangement based on the latest public health advice. Under WA’s new controlled border, the existing hard border exemption system will be removed and replaced with an updated nationwide health-based threshold that allows for safe travel into Western Australia from interstate with conditions, and subject to trigger points being met. The Chief Health Officer has ...recommended a 14-day rolling average of less than five community cases per day in each state and territory (a standard that is currently being met in each jurisdiction) is required before progressing to the new border controls. Travellers from interstate will be permitted entry to WA with conditions on arrival including a declaration, health screening and a possible COVID-19 test. Failure to follow these directions or providing false information will be enforceable by law, with penalties ranging from $1,000 infringements, to up to $50,000 fines for individuals. 10.01.2022 The new Western Australian Museum Boola Bardip opened its doors on the weekend. The museum, located on Whadjuk Nyoongar land, is three times the size of the previous museum at the Perth Cultural Centre. The design of the new building was integrated with the existing heritage buildings. Early-bird visitors to the museum have been exploring eight new permanent galleries, amazing exhibitions, interactive displays and featured stories from all over WA.... The museum project helped to employ close to 3,300 people, including 2,700 construction and 600 creative industry workers. Based on the latest health advice, changes to WA’s controlled interstate border will come into effect immediately. People entering WA from SA will now be subject to the following conditions of entry. Arrivals from SA at Perth Airport Self-quarantine at a suitable premises for 14 days upon arrival. Mandatory COVID-19 test upon arrival at Perth Airport (or within 24 hours of arrival at another COVID-19 testing clinic). Mandatory second COVID-19 test on Day 11. Arrivals from SA by road Self-quarantine at a suitable premises for 14 days upon arrival. Mandatory COVID-19 test on Day 2. Mandatory second COVID-19 test on Day 11. Anyone who arrived in WA from SA earlier today (15 November 2020) and yesterday (14 November 2020) via road or air will be contacted by WA officials and will be required to do the following: Mandatory COVID-19 test in the next 48 hours. 10.01.2022 Phase 4 of the COVID-19 WA Roadmap has been extended for an additional two months. On the advice of the Chief Health Officer, the new tentative start date of Phase 5 will now be Saturday, 24 October. We will likely be able to provide further clarity in October about whether or not we can proceed with this timeline or if Phase 5 can be brought forward. We know delaying Phase 5 may be challenging and frustrating, however, the health of the WA community must be put first.... As a result, the 2020 Perth Royal Show has been cancelled. We appreciate this is disappointing for many, but it would simply not be possible to safely run the event this year. We are fortunate to be able to remain in Phase 4 at this time and keep our economy moving as much as possible. If we all keep up the good work, we will ensure our State is in the best possible position moving forward. 09.01.2022 Currently, 525 international arrivals are permitted to enter WA per week as part of a cap which was agreed to by the Commonwealth. At National Cabinet, it was agreed the WA Government would work cooperatively to safely and sensibly lift the international arrival cap, to get more Australians home. As part of the unique agreement, WA will receive an additional 200 international arrivals from Monday, 28 September 2020.... From Monday, 12 October, WA will then take an additional 300 international arrivals per week. This will bring the States weekly intake of international arrivals to 1,025 people by Monday, 12 October. This will be done with cooperation from the Commonwealth to ensure WA has more ADF personnel available to assist in managing hotel quarantine.
09.01.2022 As part of the WA Recovery Plan, a new pedestrian and cycling bridge will be constructed across the Swan River, taking pedestrians and cyclists off the existing Causeway bridge. Its estimated the bridge will cost around $50 million, with tenders to be released in 2021.
