15.01.2022 WAHROONGA FC MATCH REPORTS 17TH JUNE Under 10A photos and summary of season so far The Wahroonga U10A team has carried its great form from 2012 (when it lost only 1 match all year and defeated the Northbridge Academy team) into 2013. The season started with a loss to Mongo, but the team is undefeated since, with the last 2 weeks seeing a 2-2 draw with Mongo in a thrilling re-match and then a 2-2 draw with Northbridge A (who only equalised with about a minute to go). Some ph...otos of the Mongo match are attached. Under 14A Mid-Season Report Wahroongas U14As are having a great season thus far. After a slow start where they took only one point from their first two games, they have since really hit their straps and strung together an unbroken series of wins to have them in second place on the U14 Div 2 ladder, and hot on the trail of first place. Unlike most of their competitor clubs, Wahroonga U14s do not have a B team to draw upon. Despite this, the team is first class in all departments. Marcus Hayden has been an outstanding goalkeeper all season. Our defence is the best in the Division, thanks to the heroics of Young Woong Kwon, Lachlan Mavin, Jack Bridekirk, Lachlan Miskell, Matthew Tompkins, and James de Meyrick. The pivotal figure of our teams success had been the inspirational midfield general Charlie Whale, who is at the beginning and end of so many of our best moves. He is ably supported by the talented midfield play of Henry Barraclough, Jeremy Brown, Neel Iyer, Noah McLean and Jan Wochnowski. Our strikers have been equally impressive with Angus Downey causing nightmares for opposing defenders with his strength, skill and will to win, along with Keith Hew who adds blinding pace to his impressive ball skills. The team have benefited greatly this season by the addition of some professional coaching from former Nigerian international Chima, who has relentlessly encouraged the team to play technically sophisticated, possession based football. The U14As are the clubs oldest junior team, as there were insufficient numbers to field a team in the 15s or 16s this season. As such they represent a flagship of what can be achieved if you get the right bunch of players together with a will to continue through the high school years. The fact that this team has not only survived but is prospering and competing successfully against the best that other clubs can muster is a testament to a fine group of lads and their dedicated parents and team management. We encourage other teams who are approaching the competition age-groups to strive to replicate our teams determination to keep together. This can be assisted greatly with early or late game time requests to allow private school students to also play club football. Rohan de Meyrick Manager/Coach U14A See more
