25.01.2022 more puppy spam (None available sorry)

22.01.2022 Guess I don't have a cattle dog adolescent proof yard - I was looking forward to a gentle morning weeding and planting some flowers. Hah! Instead I repotted some upended plants in case they were still alive, cleaned up chewed dog bed foam; picked up spilt potting mix refilled a hole - oops crater under my house... fixed an under the fence escape hole, and searched (but didn't find) the other upended plant Does that sound like gardening? 22.01.2022 Anyone thinking about adding a Cattle Dog to their family should have at least one dam. The pups are making use of the sprinkler in the interim. Sometimes they are dry and quiet!!

21.01.2022 None available posting for cuteness factor only

20.01.2022 Arya went to live locally with Ruari, who is another great aunty.

20.01.2022 Very excited another confirmed pregnancy. Hoping it all goes smoothly with no complications and everyone is healthy. Sire is a Pirrie son Maia granddaughter; Dam Ivy is Zeta granddaughter so Pirrie grand-daughter Maia great granddaughter, there are a few outcrosses in there too. Did I say I was very excited!

20.01.2022 Entertainment and stimulation for active cattle doggies - physical exercise is not enough they need mental exercise (training) and other stimulation (sniffing for example) too. And don't expect them to know about clean feet, and what constitutes dog toys!

15.01.2022 I am hoping soon to have puppies. Confirmed pregnancy for Shute and Marra, and 2 additional matings still waiting on results. Marra is a dam line grand daughter of Waiiri Breeze CD or Maia, who was Mrs reliable and did countless dog demos for me in training classes, also won novice obedience at Sydney royal 10yrs ago. She was just an amazing girl I am looking forward to this. Let there be girls!!

15.01.2022 Anyone looking to get a cattle dog puppy needs to be prepared to put in the time to keep them mentally stimulated. Exercise is good but if that is all you do you will end up with a very fit understimulated dog! Mental stimulation is WAY more important than running and ball chasing. Give them something to think about - a job to do to keep them happy. Having said that most of them LOVE water, even if it is swimming in water bowls. Walks should include lots of sniffing which is also excellent stimulation

14.01.2022 All spoken for just thought some cute puppy pics could brighten someones day!

13.01.2022 I have a 3yo red female cattle dog who is looking for a new home. Loving, sensible, well behaved, fairly well trained. Reka would love to be in a home where she could get lots more attention and activities than where she currently lives. She has done basic obedience, basic agility, is well behaved around stock and loves pats and cuddles. Please send me a pm if you may be interested. I am not always on FB so it may noy be a same day reply. Thanks

12.01.2022 All puppies from Reka x Shute litter gone; except the one that is staying of course!! I've been sent some really good 'new home' pics, so will try to share some. These are earlier my place, featuring grand-dad babysitter Roy and the blue intruder, more on her later......

12.01.2022 Marra x Shute puppies are incredibly cute and very much time wasters

10.01.2022 Riggs and Murtaugh went to country NSW to join Mish who is their great aunty.

07.01.2022 Puppies going (and growing) well. These are about 2wks old

06.01.2022 Want to be able to make friends with new dogs when you meet them? You can signal that you’re friendly by using canine body language! We often hear that you’re s...upposed to offer a dog the back of your hand to sniff, but the body language of this move is actually quite threatening. When we lean forward to offer our hand, we’re facing the dog square on, looming over them, making eye contact and invading their space. All of those signals combine into an intimidating message, and as a result many dogs will become uncomfortable when greeted in this fashion. Confident dogs will usually respond with a couple of signals like turning their head away, yawning, or licking their nose, which means they’d like the human to ease up a bit. Shy or anxious dogs will back away, cower, or even growl, snap or bite. The best way to greet a dog is to either stand side on to them and invite them over by patting your leg or calling to them, or crouch down on the ground and let them come to you. This method ensures that it’s the dog’s choice to come and say hello they’re moving up to you, rather than you moving up to them. If the dog chooses not to approach, it means that they don’t want to say hello. It’s important that you respect that choice, and leave them be. If you’re going to be spending some time with the dog, be patient and hang back the best way to win the trust of a shy dog is to avoid putting pressure on them to interact. Move slowly, blink your eyes a lot to avoid staring, and don’t speak loudly. If they approach to sniff you, don’t pet them right away. Let them sniff, then when they’re finished move away from them and try inviting them closer again. Best of luck making some new doggie friends Dog Geeks! We’d love to hear how being conscious of your body language has helped you greet dogs, or if you’ve ever won the trust of a shy dog by being patient and avoiding pressuring them. - Maddie Ross CPDT-KA ---------------------------------------- For more graphics and videos on training and behaviour, check out our library: https://www.beacondogtraining.com.au/thatdoggeek
