25.01.2022 Some more buildings completed today. The corner shop is to define the end of the terrace houses and will be a nod to one near Ings Rd bridge which you can just see in the bottom centre of the black and white pic. This is a fairly stock Metcalfe kit with new roof, gutters, downpipes and lighting added. Still need to add flashing around the chimney before painting the roof and weathering. The Nissen hut is the stock kit with added embossing to the planking and corrugated iron. All corners and exposed edges coloured with pencils. Not really sure where to add this but figured they would be common surplus in 1952 Yorkshire.

20.01.2022 This is the second lot of locos I worked on this past weekend, the tuscan one is a NSWGR 44 class by Trainorama fitted with a Loksound Select decoder and using the built in twin speakers, whereas the second loco is a NSWGR 80 class in Bicentennial livery fitted with a Loksound 5 and hooked up to a high fidelity speaker. The decoders were both loaded with ALCo 251 prime mover sounds, and I must admit the 4 stroke diesel sound is my favourite. They must be good as my wife closed the door on the train room saying they were annoying, so I must have the volume at just the right level ;-)

19.01.2022 Another building for the area on the south side of Westgate, this one was inspired by a building in the same area as per the B&W shot. Still need to add lights, paint the roof and sills and do the chimney flashing, but pretty happy with how this has turned out. It adds to the collection of buildings in the area now, only two more big ones to go.

18.01.2022 Did a bit of gardening on the weekend...

13.01.2022 A few Australian locos were put through the shops this weekend for sound fitting for a friend. First were two Austrains CLPs, one fitted with a Loksound Select with EMD 16 cylinder 645E3 prime mover, and the second, non-sound with a Lokpilot 4 speed matched with the sound fitted loco.

13.01.2022 My latest building for the layout, based on some photos of a long demolished building next to Wakefield Westgate station.

12.01.2022 Introducing Back Garden Lane. This area represents a part of Wakefield which is behind Westgate itself and right below the railway.

12.01.2022 Finally finished the scratchbuilt terrace houses. These took much longer to put together than I thought, too many windows and I had to make outside toilets for the residents because apparently no sewerage connections yet. I’m happy with the way they all look together now.

12.01.2022 Been adding working lit signals on the layout, they’ve got to be modified slightly to look more like GNR ones, but pretty happy with the outcome.

11.01.2022 The trees have also been growing along with the veges.

09.01.2022 In addition to Back Garden Lane, I’ve been also focusing on the railway side of things. I used a number of photos to match up the details, weathering and colour was close as I can as per the attached pics.

09.01.2022 Been busy making a start on some trees for my layout. Quite an enjoyable way to spend some modelling time.

06.01.2022 During March a group established a Virtual Model Railway Show to fill in for many of the cancelled shows in the UK. I participated with two live videos during the exhibition. This was the first real one (the first attempt failed because of my lack of grasp of the process of live video), so it is a bit warts and all with some shout outs to people who were joining in

05.01.2022 One of my favourite modelling pastimes is building and weathering locos, both for myself and others. Here are a few examples
