13.01.2022 The Soldier Settlers Memorial Walk Action Group are in the process of developing interpretive information signs which will include information on the soldier settlers in the North Wakool, Tullakool, Tulla, Merriginnie, Chowar and Wakool districts. Other local historical events such as the establishment of the irrigation system and the rice industry will also be included as well as the Prisoner of War (POW) Camp at Tullakool established during World War 2 and how the POW camp contributed to the Australian Rice Industry, as it was the largest producer of rice in Australia at the time. The Commemorative Walk will be located in the parkland that encompasses Cook, Flinders, Tasman and La Perouse Streets in Wakool and adjacent to where the Wakool Cenotaph is situated.



09.01.2022 When moving data from my old computer to the new one, photos have gone in cyberspace somewhere. I have now added interpretive signs on Lahy and Kitchin to the others for the Stage 1 of the Wakool Soldier Settlers Memorial Walk.
