24.01.2022 Were here to help anyone, anywhere, anytime. With a cold snap coming tonight, here are some small things you can do to help protect you and your family. - Never ever leave cooking unattended and always remember to Keep Looking When Cooking. If possible, keep a fire extinguisher and fire blanket handy in the kitchen. - Do not overload your power boards with extra appliances such as heaters, electric blankets and dryers. - Wheat bags may help to ease aches and pain, but they ...can also lead to burns and fire if improperly used. Dont sleep with a wheat bag at night, as it might ignite. - Turn off your electric blanket at night. - Do not use outdoor heating and cooking equipment inside your home. The use of this type of equipment indoors could lead to the build-up of carbon monoxide which could be fatal. - For more fire safety tips visit www.fire.nsw.gov.au/winter See more

22.01.2022 CHILD SAFETY: As the weather gets colder the risk of burns and scalds gets higher. With children exposed to heaters, fireplaces and hot food and drink, winter is when kids are at the highest risk of suffering a burn. The Childrens Hospital at Westmead suggests the following:... Prevent scalds Supervise young children at all times when they are in or around the kitchen and bathroom. Keep hot food and drinks and all kitchen appliances out of reach of young children. Take care when serving or walking with hot drinks when young children are around. Check the temperature of the water before putting a young child in the bath. If your child has suffered a burn or a scald: Use cool running water on the burn for 20 minutes Remove clothing and jewellery if possible Call 000 or seek medical help if you are unsure Never use ice, iced water, cream, gel, toothpaste or butter on a burn as they can make the burn worse More info: http://www.schn.health.nsw.gov.au//burns-prevention-during

04.01.2022 September 11 marks a very sad day in U.S. and international history. Together with all Australian firefighters and emergency services workers, we pay our greatest respects to the 412 emergency workers, of which 343 were firefighters, that the world so sadly lost in New York City on that fateful day. We remember them today, we will remember them tomorrow, and they will never be forgotten. #September11 #RememberingThe343 #911 #FDNY #FRNSWRemembers #911memorial #Remembering911
