25.01.2022 Walgett Show Society President, Scott White, and Committee were honoured that the 2019 Walgett Show was nominated for and received a Walgett Shire Australia Day Award at this morning's ceremony and would like to thank those who took the time to nominate the event. This award reflects the terrific community spirit of Walgett Shire and the involvement of everyone in the Show. Thank you for your support and we are looking forward to another great Show in 2020 (the weekend of May 9th and 10th - hope to see you there).

25.01.2022 Raja the Clown has had a good day at the Show giving lolly bags out to the kids and strolling around and is looking forward to catching up with some more of his friends at the bar tonight. He will be back again at the Show tomorrow too.

24.01.2022 Dancing At Walgett Show With Australian Army Band Australian Army Band Happy #australianarmyband #walgettshow #dance #carnival

24.01.2022 Thanks to the Australian Government's Regional Ag Shows Development Grants program, some repairs and improvements to the ring and arena area at Walgett Racecourse and Showground have been funded. This is much appreciated, with the project work including replacement of fencing, making the arena surface safer and installation of some new water infrastructure and shades sails. More details to come. Thank you also to everyone who helped to put the application together, including Mea Campbell (The Writing Co).

23.01.2022 It's another sunny day for the second day of Walgett Show. There is free entry today, thanks to Walgett Shire Council and the Non-Resident Nepali Association, Australia. Raja the Clown is back on duty, the climbing wall and buck a bull spinning log are running, the dog sports, dogs and children's pets have been on, with jousting on the racetrack. The Australian Army band is also performing again, with the Swing Katz about to start again and there is another Live Reptile Display on soon, Frank Wright's interactive Aboriginal Art workshops are back today and the official presentations and ring events on now.

23.01.2022 2020 Walgett Show COVID-19 coronavirus update: at this stage (Monday 16th March), the 82nd Walgett Show is amongst the upcoming annual shows that have not yet been cancelled. Complying with Government requirements and ASC of NSW advice in the interests of community health and wellbeing will take priority for Walgett Show Committee when making decisions about this year's Walgett Show. Keeping everyone informed and providing sufficient notice about what is happening is also i...mportant to the committee. Further advice will be provided soon, as decisions are made in good time before our Show weekend (9-10 May). Walgett Show Committee appreciates the support of the ASC, the Showmen's Guild of Australasia, Walgett Shire Council and our many valued sponsors and donors, participating community groups and volunteers, exhibitors, competitors, entertainers and stallholders, and show-goers each year, in good times and tough times

22.01.2022 The 2019 Walgett Show is underway under sunny skies, There are horse events in the ring, the climbing wall is popular, the Australian Army Band from Newcastle has started performing, the first jousting show has been held and the live reptile display is on again. Frank Wright is on the grounds for his interactive Aboriginal Art workshops and the sheep, cattle and poultry judging are on today's schedule. Raja the Clown has been roaming and treating show-goers with his lolly bags for the kids. There are plenty of stalls if you are looking for Mother's Day gifts, rides and side show alley. The pavilion displays are also very impressive and worth a look.

22.01.2022 Walgett Show Society President Scott White and Committee would like to wish everyone a safe and peaceful Christmas and New Year, with the help of Raja the Clown, who has swapped suits for the occasion. Thank you for your ongoing support to make the 81st Walgett Show a success during another challenging year and here's to looking forward to the 2020 Walgett Show year.

21.01.2022 In an example of community spirit, Lionel and Peter Prown are pictured presenting a donation of $500 collected during the recent Carnival Eats Family Fun Day visit to Walgett. The small entry fee they collected from patrons was donated to worthy community group, Walgett Community Promotions, despite the financial hardships they as small business owners have faced in 2020. Thanks to this generosity from our Showmen’s Guild of Australasia representatives, these funds will go towards Walgett’s community Christmas tree (maintenance and new decorations and lights).

21.01.2022 Thank you to major sponsors Geronimo Farm Equipment and Graincorp for helping to bring the fantastic fireworks display to Walgett Show again this year.

21.01.2022 The Showmans Guild of Australasia representatives who come to Walgett Show each year do a great job and bring the popular rides, showbags and other sideshow alley stalls.

21.01.2022 The Australian Army Band, Newcastle has been entertaining the crowd in and around the igrain bar area this evening.

21.01.2022 LOST & FOUND: - towel and Sophie the giraffe found near the gate to the bar at the Show today (please inquire at the secretary's office). - a canon camera lens cap has been lost at the Show.

20.01.2022 For those of you at this year's Walgett Show who enjoyed a delicious camp oven curry meal from 'Fat Daddy's Swill & Grill', we have some good news for you. No, it's not about another cook-up, but we can report that Walgett's new Petals and Seeds Store is stocking Curry Traders meal kits, which Tim and Jim Bob used. You can call in and see Georgie and Sarah from Tuesdays - Sundays at Petals and Seeds Store and create your own gastronomic delights!

20.01.2022 The Walgett Show 'no show scarecrow' visited our Showmens Guild of Australasia friends at Pearson Park today, who have brought some COVID-safe sideshow fun again with Carnival Eats Family Fun Day attractions. Unfortunately the Cha Cha was unable to be here this time, but there have been rides for the kids and sideshow games and treats, including Monster Grill, the kebab van and sweet treats. Thank you for coming, and we hope to see you again soon.

20.01.2022 Walgett Show President Scott White unfortunately has the news to share that Walgett Show is unable to go ahead this year. It is disappointing, and rest assured that significant effort was put in to trying to organize a later Show for everyone. However, the difficult decision was made with concerns about community health and safety and uncertainty regarding COVID-19 in mind. Walgett Show Society appreciates the assistance of the ASC of NSW, Showmen's Guild of Australasia and the support and sponsorship we receive from across the local Walgett Shire community and from far and wide.

20.01.2022 LOOK OUT - Raja the Clown is cruising around Walgett town this afternoon (RIGHT NOW) with Show President Scott White to remind everyone about Walgett Show this weekend (they are also supposed to go out to Gingie and Namoi too, please remind them!!!)

19.01.2022 Walgett Show Committee appreciates the community support we have continued to see in the last week. With health and safety the priority, it has become obvious that running the Show on our usual May weekend isn't possible this year. The committee is investigating the option of postponing to a later date rather than cancelling the 2020 Walgett Show completely, and will let everyone know the outcome as soon as we can.

19.01.2022 RIDES AT 2019 WALGETT SHOW - we have advice from our Showmens Guild people that there will be: Super Trooper, the dodgem cars, the Claw, the Cha Cha and the quad bikes ride, with the Kamikaze also coming and there will be rides for the little kids!

19.01.2022 IF YOU ARE STILL THINKING ABOUT ENTERING PHOTOS IN THE SHOW THIS YEAR BUT ARE WORRIED ABOUT NOT HAVING TIME, THERE IS STILL TIME TODAY AND BY 1 PM TOMORROW (TUESDAY). Photos that arrive at Walgett Show office today or tomorrow by 1 PM, or Walgett Library tomorrow by 1 PM will still make it.

18.01.2022 We have that exciting news to report on this week, but today Raja the Clown was still able to enjoy a take-away Show treat, thanks to Peter Brown and family's Monster Grill food van, even though 2020 Walgett Show was unable to go ahead this weekend. We are still waiting to see how things go with COVID-19 and if it will be possible and safe for the potential alternative weekend of 19-20 September.

18.01.2022 The Geronimo and Graincorp Fireworks Display will be on just after dark (scheduled for 7 pm, for those who are keen to come and for those in town with pets). The fireworks are brought to Walgett Show this year by major sponsors Geronimo Farm Equipment and Graincorp.

17.01.2022 We have some exciting news to report on next week, but for now, Happy Mother's Day for tomorrow from Walgett Show President, Scott White and Committee.

17.01.2022 We are still seeing how things go, but if we can have Walgett Show in September, we are excited that Castlereagh Connection can make it. An impressive effort with their new song.

09.01.2022 During October, Agricultural Shows across NSW will be creating and displaying 'No Show Scarecrows' to celebrate local Show spirit and as a sign of solidarity for the network of shows across the country, despite so many cancelled shows in 2020. There are 660 Agricultural Shows in Australia, which attract six million visitors annually and the volunteer hours required to run them makes the show movement the largest volunteer network in the country. Shows like Walgett Show are n...ot just events - they are communities of volunteers, sponsors, competitors, supporting businesses, locals and visitors who love attending every year. We have created a Walgett Show Society 'no show scarecrow', pictured at Walgett Racecourse and Showground on 1st October, which will have a month to be seen around the Walgett Show district of Walgett Shire. #noshowscarecrow Agricultural Societies Council of NSW Ltd @ASCofNSW See more

09.01.2022 We dropped up to the Monster Grill sideshow area this evening. It was great to see families enjoying the rides, sideshow games and treats and to catch up with our Showmen's Guild of Australasia friends, who are great supporters of Walgett Show.

08.01.2022 The Animal Farm will be at the Walgett Show this year too.

08.01.2022 The President and Committee of Walgett Show Society would like to wish everyone a happy, safe and peaceful Easter.

08.01.2022 Shout out to our Showmens Guild of Australasia representatives, who bring the rides, showbags and sideshow games and treats to Walgett Show each year and are doing it tough, with so much of the 2020 Show calendar cancelled. The Brown family, who have been associated with Walgett Show for over 50 years and represent five generations of family business, brought Monster Grill and some rides and games and COVID-safe Showtime fun to Walgett recently. Shout out also to the entert...ainment providers and other stallholders whose businesses provide such great attractions at our Shows, including some in the photos here: Bruno's wood-fired pizza and all the other great food vans, Base Zero Mobile Rock Climbing, Blue Mountains Reptile Awareness, The Memphis Moovers, Troppo Bob, The Kangagang, Sand in Your Eyes, Eljay Show, Berkley Supertank and many others, too numerous to mention. We are thinking of you and looking forward to when the country Shows are able to run safely again (and hopefully show-goers next time will be able to see planned 2020 Walgett Show entertainment attractions if they can still come). P.S. we heard that the Monster Grill and attractions visited Coonamble and Cobar again recently - maybe they will be able to visit Walgett again too before too long. See more

07.01.2022 2020 Walgett Show Update: while we don't know what will be happening down the track, following discussions of options and also looking at the timing of other local events,19th-20th September is the weekend we could find for a potential postponed Walgett Show this year. We realize that things are uncertain with COVID-19 and it might not be possible or safe for Walgett Show to go ahead at that time, but for now have a potential 2020 Walgett Show date and can see how things go and keep you posted. We are thinking of everyone during this challenging time and appreciate the encouragement and assistance from the ASC of NSW and Group 14 (North West Shows), our Showmen's Guild people, Walgett Shire Council and all of our valued supporters and participants and the community.

01.01.2022 Walgett Show Society President Scott White and Committee members were shocked and saddened to hear the news of the fire that has destroyed the Walgett IGA building today. Walgett IGA management and staff are great supporters of Walgett Show and we are thinking of them. The Show Society is also grateful that the community has the emergency services personnel that we do, who step up in times of need and do such a great job. We are looking forward to the day that we can go back in to IGA again and support a local business that supports so many local community groups and events.
