25.01.2022 Due to many requests, and the difficulties experienced in trying to source second hand copies, we are reprinting Glazes for Australian Potters. To determine jus...t what form it will be reprinted in, we are trying to get an idea of the extent of interest in it. It is not a new edition, but a reprint of the original- however there will be included a table of recommended substitutions to use when a particular material is no longer available. If you are interested, could you register that no obligation interest by using the link below. We can then contact you when it is available. See more

THE MAKERS' FAIR On the Saturday morning of the Triennale (4 May 2019), well take a break from the talking and demonstrating to give visitor...s from overseas and interstate an opportunity to browse the famous Salamanca markets. 15.01.2022 CERAMIC CUP COMPETITION Deadline 18 April 2019 #Repost @australianteaculturalseminar ... Inspired by her environment, Perth ceramicist and specialist glazier Annemieke Mulders (Ceramics by Annemieke Mulders) won the first AUSTCS Ceramic Cup competition in 2018 with an entry reminiscent of sea foam and went on to produce cups of oceanic hues, seaside sunsets and coastal flora. What does Australia as a teacup look like to you? Submissions to the 2019 Australian Tea Cultural Seminar ceramic cup competition are open (closing 18 April 2019). This is a unique opportunity to have your teacup feature in the Welcome by Tea ritual. 11.01.2022 Vale Geoff Hill It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Geoff Hill, founder of VENCO. Geoff founded Venco in 1979 after he had made his first po...ttery wheel for a family friend. There are now over 40,000 Venco wheels around the globe. His company went on to produce a large range of studio equipment. He was also instrumental in making wind turbines. Geoff died peacefully at the weekend after a short illness. He was 81. The whole ceramics community will mourn his loss and we send our sincere condolences to his family and friends. Cher Shackleton President Ceramic Arts Association of WA Inc.

There is no change in any recipes or materials used - it is only a "new look"! We are also promoting Australian Made so any product that qualifies will have the Australian Made Logo on it! See you all soon. David

04.01.2022 Day 1 of Victorian "shutdown" Hi Everyone Here we are in Bayswater in the New Victoria.... We have a reduced team here and people working from home, continuing looking after customers as best we can. Answering phones remotely will be Maree, Tracy, Tanya and David if we dont get to your call please email and we will get back to you. In Pick & Pack we have Barb, Carolyn, Lisa, Sharnhi and Margherita on rotating shifts packing your orders. In Despatch we have Kevin and Stephen packing the pallets. All of Walkers and Feeneys clays are still being made in both Bendigo and Ipswich as they are outside of Melbournes lockdown area. Unfortunately (but happily to help beat this virus!) manufacturing of glazes, slips and colours is closed but I wanted to let everyone know that we currently carry about 3 months of stock on the shelves so should be able to satisfy everyones requirements. Customers: Part of the allowance of us continuing to operate and supply your requirements is that we are supplying ONLINE orders only. So PLEASE - place your orders on our webshop at http://shop.walkerceramics.com.au/ or by email. We will process all orders in order of receipt. If you want to make additions to your original order the whole order, including the addition, will then be prioritised at the date of the second order. We hope you understand our position, as to work efficiently we must process all orders in receipt date of order. Safety Note: For the safety of all our customers and staff, we are wearing both masks and gloves when bottling, bagging, picking, packing and despatching. All the team are temperature checked at the door as we come to work. There is also a pump pack of sanitiser at each entrance to the building and everyone has their own bottle of sanitiser at their workstation. We are maintaining 1.5m distancing throughout our business. We also try to maintain a sense of humour through this time as laughter is definitely the best medicine I will keep you all updated on what is happening from time to time.. Meanwhile please stay safe and virus free. Kind Regards David Walker

04.01.2022 Ok ...........Next year I shall be attending #ClayGulgong ....if anyone is down that way ,and wants to get dirty with Clay , I'll see you on a stage in Australia ! :-) http://www.claygulgong.com/

03.01.2022 News from Walkers in Bayswater Online sales are still operating and our Pick & Pack and Despatch teams will be working through to get you your supplies. Click and collect will operate for all carriers, couriers and customers with registered ceramic business ONLY. If you do not have a registered ceramic business we legally can only deliver to you as unfortunately we for some reason the government has not designated Pottery as an essential business!!?? Manufacturing in Bayswa...ter has been stopped by law but we hopefully have plenty of stock on the shelves to see us through. Clay production is continuing as it is in regional Victoria so we hope to keep up with the demand of everyone doing pottery "in isolation"! Our sales team Tracy, Maree, Tanya and David will be answering phones from home and we will help in any way we can but all orders MUST be made online. If you need technical advice please email me directly on [email protected] . In the meantime please stay safe and healthy. Enjoy your pottery in isolation. David Walker See more

03.01.2022 COVID 19 UPDATE: MELBOURNE FACTORY OUTLET Our Melbourne Factory Outlet has now been closed to the public but never fear,we are still here! Just online or telephone order and we will pack it ready for pickup or delivery. See our website for all the details.... If you happen to just rock up, we won't turn you away but you'll need to fill out an order form and chill in your car (or in the fresh air if the weather behaves) while we organise it for you. WE APOLOGISE FOR THIS INCONVENIENCE BUT YOUR HEALTH AND THE HEALTH OF OUR TEAM IS IMPORTANT, AS IS POTTERS CONTINUED ACCESS TO CLAY AND SUPPLIES.

02.01.2022 COVID UPDATE Unfortunately the Melbourne factory outlet is closed from the 8th July 2020. The shop will remain closed until restrictions are lifted ... We have a full team available for online, phone and email orders and will process and despatch these in the order received. Personal orders can only be processed for despatch by couriers or post. As per Victorian regulations - collections can only be made by couriers or registered businesses. Please advise your ABN in writing prior to collection. In these times we are only able to offer Forklift or self loading. In these tough and challenging times these changes are an inconvenience but your health and the health of our team is important to all of us. We thank you for your understanding and support. Stay safe David Walker
