22.01.2022 Chickenpox is around so can we please remind people NOT to give your children nurofen/ibuprofen if you think your child has it This type of medicine is an anti-...inflammatory, it reacts with chicken pox making them go deeper into the skin tissue will also make your child very very ill! We recommend you - Use Paracetamol (Panadol) for fever - Calamine Lotion for the spots - Keep your child hydrated - In children over 2 years old an antihistamine can be beneficial for the itch. - In certain circumstances your doctor may advice differently if the benefit of using ibuprofen outweighs the risk

20.01.2022 Medical professionals around the world are choosing Bowen Therapy. Bowen is progressively becoming recognized as an invaluable complementary therapy. We intervi...ewed an array of medical professionals who utilize Bowen Therapy in ‘These Two Hands’ documentary, including, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, midwives, pharmacists, to name a few. We were privileged to hear their amazing stories and how they have helped so many by using Bowen Therapy. In addition, they all highlighted the need for broader community awareness and acceptance as a stand-alone therapy to be integrated with orthodox medicine. The landscape of medicine around the world has been slowly progressing toward a more holistic and individualized approach to healing. This has been due to increase awareness with access to information through social media, limitations of orthodox medicine, cultural ties with traditional healing, a growing trend towards holistic and preventative medicine. This approach to healthcare incorporates a patient’s mind, spirituality, and sense of community into the healing process. Integrative medicine has been typically well received and the demand has been steadily increasing in primary hospitals in many countries in Europe, the USA, and Asia. Countries like China have led the way over the millennia, by incorporating specific healing foods, herbs, acupuncture, medical Chi Gong, and more hospitals. Currently, there is a great demand to integrate allopathic and traditional healing in developing countries. Many governments such as South Africa and India are moving forward with formal integration, undertaking the necessary research and policy changes. There is ‘huge potential’ for Bowen Therapy to be integrated into the mainstream health care system, in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and medical clinics. ‘These Two Hands’ documentary project continues to be invaluable in helping to raise awareness and contribute to the growth of this incredible modality. We greatly appreciate your ongoing support. Please help us to continue to spread the word by engaging with us online, sharing our posts on Facebook and Instagram, and getting your connections to like our page. Thank you to the following Medical professionals for sharing your passion and insights: Andrea Neale, Dr. Jaimini Raniga, Eleanor Oyston, Georgi Ilchev, Maurao Murganti, and Merrin Wake. 18.01.2022 Look at the differences between a typical preschool child’s hand (left) and a typical 7 year old hand (right). Want to know why a preschool aged child isn’t a...ble to write yet? This is why! Their hands are still developing and are not fully formed. So what should they be doing to support this? PLAY!! Playdough, colouring, cutting, gluing, playing outside, digging in dirt, sensory play, dress up play, science experiments, beading, puzzles, throwing balls, etc. . All of these things help their hands develop. When they are physically ready to write, they will! No need to rush them, they will show you when they are ready. via @Raisingherbarefoot

10.01.2022 Activating your vagus nerve signals your digestive system to work with you (Not against you). One of the most fascinating aspects of the mouth-brain-body connec...tion is the neurological connection of the cranial nerves. It helps us dive deep into the mouth body connection. The mouth provides us with the tools to access and understand our entire system. Let's think about digestion. Digestion begins in the mouth as a neurological reflex chewing chewing. Oral posture when can also send this signal when you’re not eating. It’s about shifting the neural system to parasympathetic (relax and digest) from sympathetic (fight and flight). The palate is innervated by parasympathetic cranial nerves (among others) but at the BACK of the throat, is the area controlled by the vagus nerve. Stimulating the vagus nerve has played a key role in the management of a range of conditions including digestive to mental health. What exactly is the vagus nerve? It’s the connection between your mouth and digestive system. The vagus nerve is the longest cranial nerve in your body. It connects your brain to many important organs throughout the body, including the gut (intestines, stomach), heart and lungs. In fact, the word "vagus" means wanderer in Latin, which accurately represents how the nerve wanders all over the body and reaches various organs. You can stimulate your vagus nerve as your reading this post. The tongue should activate this area of the throat when you swallow. It’s a deep, up and backwards motion that stimulates the whole throat. You should feel a lifting right behind the upper jaw. That’s your body calming itself down. Another way to activate the vagus nerve is gargling. You swallow ever 10-20 seconds. So each is an opportunity to send a ‘calming’ message to your brain. It leads us deeper, with the connection to the voice and throat muscles, yes everything is connected. Vagal tone, and activating the cranial nerves that help us move into rest and digest is a powerful tool to calm the entire body down. Can you activate this part of the throat during swallowing?

07.01.2022 Suffering from elbow pain? Does your elbow often feel like it wants to pop? These muscles are often among the culprits -- the pronator teres and anconeus. They ...can cause the elbow to track improperly when restricted. To see if your elbow is tracking properly, find the point of your elbow with the arm straight and relaxed. Feel the space to the left and right of the elbow in those bony grooves. It should be about the same on both sides. See more

03.01.2022 Wonderful feed back from a musician I treated at a recent festival. This is why I love what I do. When I put my hand out to catch a 200 km per hour tennis ball on the 4th sept n bent my thumb back to major strain almost a break I thought this tour was over. I had to cancel a gig the week before much to the agents suspicion that I was full of it. So couldn’t hold a guitar n scraped though the Wintermoon house concert in agony. Then at Black mt festival 1200 km later I walk...ed into it in pain and then I met Julie Williams .. wow what a healer she is, within one treatment I was able to perform with no pain and I’m totally back to full grip, plus the tennis elbow gone and the stomp fatigue in left leg gone ! The law of attraction n the power of the word.. she wanted a uke lesson in return ! She also healed most of the injured musos on site and then came to Wintermoon healed Chris Matthews bear broken hand also .. love to you Julie n I’m still playing because of you I believe See more

02.01.2022 SERRATUS POSTERIOR INFERIOR - OVERLOOKED CAUSE OF LOWER BACK PAIN You have a client who tells you this: 'I reached for something and suddenly I felt a sharp s...pasm in the lower part of my back, slightly to the side of the spine, at the bottom of the ribs, and when I breathe in really deep I can feel it'. Based on the above description you should suspect that you might be dealing with the Serratus Posterior Inferior muscle. Where is the Serratus Posterior Inferior muscle? The Serratus Posterior Inferior muscle connects the lower 4 ribs to four vertebrae (T11, T12, L1, L2) in the low back. What movements does the Serratus Posterior Inferior muscle control? Forced expiration (breathing out when breathing hard) Assists with twisting at the waist Assists with straightening the trunk (standing up straight) Activities that cause Serratus Posterior Inferior pain and symptoms: Twisting the body when lifting Overreaching overhead or to the side of the body Lifting something heavy using the back muscles instead of leg muscles Sleeping on a sagging or too soft mattress Trigger Points Trigger points in the Serratus Posterior Inferior may cause an uncommon local ache radiating over and around the muscle. This may extend across the back and over the lower ribs, even continuing through the chest to the front of the body. This discomfort is typically described by clients as a nagging ache. In many cases this pain remains after other trigger points have been inactivated. This should be a good indicator for the therapist to recheck the Serratus Posterior Inferior for undiscovered trigger points. Stretching for self-release of the Serratus Posterior Inferior Cross your forearms just above the wrist, at about chest height. Inhale deeply as you slowly raise them up until the area where the arms cross is level with your forehead. Now lower the arms as you exhale. Do this once or twice, allowing for a brief rest (a few breaths) before repeating. Do this exercise set several times a day.

01.01.2022 Tight hamstrings are often inhibited hamstrings. While there are many potential causes, restriction around the foot and ankle is a very common one. In particula...r, restriction at the calcaneofibular ligament is often a major player. It usually responds well to soft-tissue work, even the do-it-yourself variety. See more
