25.01.2022 Last Friday our school was full of Superheroes and Heroes of all shapes and sizes as our students and staff dressed up and had some fun to end what was a very busy week. Well done to those who got into the spirit of the day with all funds going towards our very supportive P&C.

23.01.2022 Enrolment Update We currently have 296 students and require another 4 before Friday 5th Feb when schools submit their enrolment counts. If we don’t enrol another 4 students we will have to lose a teacher, resulting in substantial class changes for our P-3 students.... If you know of anyone who is moving into our area or considering a change in school please encourage them to make contact with our office. If families are moving in within the next few weeks, we can include enrolments (with acceptable evidence) up to the 12th March. We just need those families to make contact with us so that we can include evidence of their pending enrolment. Thanks for your help with this everyone! 22.01.2022 What a great time Year 4 had at Bike Ed at PCYC this week. They are all now competent road users for the school holidays hopefully!

22.01.2022 Guess who’s back, back again, TUCKSHOP’s back, tell a friend!! Scrubby Snack Shack is open for business as of tomorrow, and will be open every Monday, Wednesday..., and Friday of Term 1. Orders need to be written on a brown paper back and include the students name, class, and when they want their food (1st or 2nd break).

22.01.2022 We are proud to be supporting a great cause along with C&K Walkerston Community Kindergarten and Mackay Animal Rescue Society. Frank the Kindy Dog will be visiting our school and collecting donations on Monday 7th December.

20.01.2022 NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Since the dawn of time Australia Always Was, Always Will Be Aboriginal Land. Year 1C have creatively coloured and assembled this mural to celebrate cultural diversity in our community. This is on display in the office foyer for all to enjoy.

20.01.2022 The Walkerston State School P&C's littlest elves have done a great job at decorating the Christmas tree! Thank you to all the families that have donated goods to the giving tree to be distributed to families in the area. There is still time to drop off any non-perishable items into the office by Friday 27th Nov.

19.01.2022 Tomorrow is the day to come to school!! A couple of things to know: - Sun Smart clothing MUST be worn on the waterslides. - Prep A & B are first up, so come to ...school dressed in your wet gear ready to go!! - Tuckshop Menu is as below, the normal menu will NOT be available. - Lunch orders (chips, nuggets, pizza) MUST be written on a paper bag. - This is our last Tuckshop day for 2020, we will be closed next week. - Lollies can only be bought with cash, no bag orders. - NO Brekky Club tomorrow, but back as normal next week. - Tomorrow is NOT free dress day (save that for next Wednesday) We are super excited for tomorrow, I know some of our P&C are keen to try out the slides!!! It's going to be a great day.

18.01.2022 Last Friday students travelled to Harrup Park to participate in the Interschool T20 Blast Cricket Competition along with 4 other primary schools. Fun was had by all. Thank you to Miss Catterall and Mrs Head for going along with the students. Thank you also to Walkerston State School P&C for supporting this event and funding half of the bus cost!

17.01.2022 During Week 7 at Walkerston State School 'student wellbeing' was our big focus with our Ball Games, Junior and Senior Athletics Carnival. Check out our talented kids and the fun they had!

16.01.2022 Pumped Sport’s new Ninja Dash event is coming to Walkerston State School on Wednesday 11th of November starting at 3.15pm and runs for 75 minutes. Cash or credit card payments can be made on the day. Children kindy aged and older are $15 and toddlers are $10. Entry to the school oval will be via the double gates on McColl St. Parents will be required to sign in on arrival.

04.01.2022 Well our Prep Program for 2021 at Walkerston State School has certainly got off to a flying start, as we settle in, reconnect with some of our Kindy friends and make some lovely new friends too. We have spent the first few days getting to know our teachers, exploring our school and our classrooms and learning all about what it means to be a great friend (with a little help from The Rainbow Fish). We have been creating, collaborating, being active and learning how to be great ...listeners and great learners. We have had happy, smiling faces (with just a couple of small tears) and lots of excited, enthusiastic chats about our new learning as we try lots and lots of new things together. We are looking forward to a fantastic year together. The Prep team
