25.01.2022 The Walkerville junior teams celebrated another great season at presentation night last night! As always, a huge thank you must go to all the junior parents! Well done girls & we look forward to another great winter season in 2021!

25.01.2022 You thought netball was over? No way! Welcome to the summer season! We are looking for some more umpires to join our friendly umpiring crew at WNC. If you, or someone you know, is interested, please message us through this Facebook page. You don’t need to be badged, you just need to have a can-do attitude (though, if you are badged you are paid at a higher rate). Seniors play Tuesday evenings and Juniors on Friday evenings.... Please like, share or tag your mates in this post Thanks from Eva Thompson

24.01.2022 WNC BEST CLUB PERSON Two extremely special awards were given out on presentation night! Congratulations to Alicia Stone for winning WNC best club person for 2020!! For those who missed the speech by our 2019 winner Liz Humphris on the night, here is why Alicia won this award! ... This person was nominated by quite a number of you and is truly deserving of the award. Described as a club legend, team legend and playing legend! She has been a long term member of the Walkies family. She is an excellent coach and mentor and very welcoming to our new players. The club wouldn’t be the same without her. She has been described as having club spirit like no other! She really embodies what it means to be a WNC Cat, and thinks of a the club as a whole and values every team equally, not just those that she plays in or coaches. She has coached many teams over her time at the club, and her players always describe her as supportive, fun and always learn a lot along the way! She always brings ideas forward for ways to make the club better, which is what we are all about. She doesn’t expect others to pull her slack, and often takes on jobs for other people. The teams that she coaches and plays in always seem to smash it, and this may be have something to do with the special role she has. She is a lot of fun, as demonstrated quite clearly over grand final weekend and she gets around all the events over the years. Personally, I genuinely feel grateful to have so much to do with this girl. We have a lot of laughs on and off the court- maybe a few too many on the court. She’s definitely got her quirks, like being a GS who cannot sink a goal if she is within a metre of the goal post, and has a lot of signature moves, my favourite being her newest- 2 2 2. Shes our fill in coordinator, trials coordinator, team of the decade member, double premiership coach for 2020, has possibly played the most games and won the most premierships at the club- just ask her Please get up standing, raise your glasses and make a heap of noise for our Walkerville Cat of the year for 2020, we all love her!- Alicia Stonestone.

22.01.2022 100 GAME MILESTONE Congratulations to Jillian White who will play her 100th WNC game in her grand final tomorrow! We wish you the best of luck Jill and hope that yourself and your lovely team (B4) can get over the line for your special day. Let’s get around and celebrate Jill Jillian is not only a great friend but also a great personality for the walkies culture. If she’s not tearing it up on the court she can be found tearing it up on the woolshed dance floo...r (pre covid ). She’s funny, dramatic, competitive and a supportive person on and off the court. As a fellow tall girl she is always here if you need and ready for those long lobs. Jill has had lots of success on court, playing in numerous finals throughout her journey at WNC, including a grand final appearance in 2018. Jill has also won coaches award twice, proving what a hard working and incredible netballer that she is. Not only has Jill had a great time on the court at WNC but she has also helped out on our committee and made lots of life long friends and memories. Jill is a loveable person and an amazing asset to Walkerville. We are lucky to have her in our lives Now let’s go get that Premiership to celebrate xx

21.01.2022 WALKIES SERIES OF THE WEEK Getting To Know Your Grand Finalists Series 5: AMND League Walkerville vs Matrics Court 1 at 2.45pm ... Well, well, well. Our first year in AMND League and into the grand final. We’ve heard that people are impressed that we made it, but we’re not here to take part. We’re here to take over. Amy. Our pocket rocket. Grand Final specialist. We love seeing her carve it up on court but we’re looking forward to seeing Queen of the wines off the court celebrating tonight Coop. Coop-dawg. Slightly less Successful queen of the wines, but no one can get a second wind, rally and outlast her. On or off the court. Looking for the double premiership today as a coach and player Ellie. Loves checking off the long bomb. Definitely one who is going to miss the dance floor tonight, might need a GPS to make sure she gets to the right venue (with Coach Kate) Heidi Our boss. Player boss. Social boss. When she talks. You listen. If she’s not talking, her will be. Gun. On and off the court. Issy. When Issy has her scary eyes, you know the opposition is in trouble. A great decision maker, whether it’s taking an intercept or taking a tactical nap on a big night out. Kayla. We love Kayla. So does our opposition. They always seem to be trying to hold her hand or wrap their arms around her and never let her go. Usually as she’s right under the post. Kelly. The Silent assassin. By day she Assists damsels and dudes in distress from jock wearing rogues and by later that day, quietly gets the job done on court with her deadly accuracy. Lucy Ms Netball. Want to know something? She’s your encyclopaedia. Sponsor relationship and junior development coordinator in her spare time, a typical WD organiser. Also loves a bit of a selfie video about life in general. Makayla. Mak-daddy. Just an unassuming player who goes about her business and has Premier League teams try and recruit her at practice matches. No biggie. Our official scorer for 2020, but glad she has now been relieved of those duties. Rylee The entertainer. Always knows the exact moment for comic relief in a pressure cooker situation. If you see her out on GF night, it might not be her face you’re seeing..... AMND girls are coached by Head Coach Kate. Without a doubt she has lead the girls to this moment, she is a superstar full of netball knowledge. She will be yelling her heart out on the sideline and we are sure the girls will do her proud. Reasons to watch this game After finishing the minor round in third, we had a HUGE last quarter in the Prelim to be in front when the Fat Lady Sang. We are not done yet. It’s possible to be Cats and Underdogs all at once, but we love the challenge. No number restrictions on Court 1, so see you there for a 2.45pm start! Can’t wait to see you all out there in a sea of Navy and White.

10.01.2022 WNC BEST NEW RECRUIT 2020 This years best new recruit was awarded to Eva Thompson! As the 2019 winner, Kevin Frick read the following speech on presentation night as he handed over the pink jacket! Congratulations Eva! ... This years winner could not be more deserving! This young lady has thrown herself into Walkies life with a passion like no other. She is always at trainings, has been an incredible support for all and she is always putting her hand up to umpire (often for multiple games). It’s going to be obvious who won this and I’m very glad she didn’t come last year. She stepped up to become junior umpire coordinator in her first year, and has now offered to be the summer junior and senior coordinator. During the year she was injured at training yet continued to come along to trainings, games and even presentations. She wasn’t allowed/able to drive and even caught a bus to come and watch finals! Walkerville netball club has every reason to be greatful that Flinders Uni didn’t have teams this year, which means we could get this amazing young recruit. I’m very proud and excited to announce the 2020 best new recruit is Eva Thompson!
