23.01.2022 Diatoms are very tiny and very beautifuland are an integral part of our lives. Looking forward to exploring the diatomic world of Kangaroo Island in a series of art/science workshops, discussions and events in 2020. www.walkingstory.com.au/workshops

23.01.2022 My kind of fireworks....here’s hoping this year’s resolution is to resolve our relationship with nature

20.01.2022 Picked up this calendar todaya reminder of how valuable art can be in translating and interpreting the beauty and importance of nature....and how it can also be used to generate much needed funds for support. Some very fine people are fighting to save the Bimblebox Refuge from being turned into a giant hole in the ground. Proceeds from the calendar go a long way to help. Available to purchase at https://bimblebox.org

20.01.2022 Nature shows us our own reflections in so many ways. This magpie getting straight to the point....

18.01.2022 OUT WEST Last Saturday my partner Richard and I accompanied Kennedy Warne from National Geographic to see some of the fire ground. The speed, scale and intensit...y of this fire storm is devastating. I have grave concerns for the seedbank in the soil, it will be an anxious wait to see what returns in the months and years ahead. (Warning: includes a photograph of a charred wallaby, given the hundreds of dead animals we saw, it would be unrepresentative of the situation not to include it. The lack of flies and ants etc on the carcasses was also disturbing.) See more

15.01.2022 Another way of looking. Collecting and preparing samples for imaging.

13.01.2022 We're getting super excited to be heading to Kangaroo Island in January 2020 to run a series of art/science events and workshops in collaboration with Dr. Jonathan Tyler from the University of Adelaide. The project is being supported by Inspiring SA and will include additional programmed events in April (watch this space). Further information and registration is available through www.walkingstory.com.au/workshops. Hope to see you there...

09.01.2022 Just over two weeks before we start our art/science events on Kangaroo Island. A timely chance to explore past and present ecologies and flood/drought frequencies, and understand what lies beyond our visible perception. Make sure to register at www.walkingstory.com.au/workshops.

08.01.2022 **Art/Science Workshops and Community Forum Update*** Dear Friends, I hope this finds you all safe and feeling the love and support of those around you.... Just a quick note to let everyone know that we have had to cancel all of our scheduled events for this week (see attached). In light of continued interest from participants, we would still like to offer the opportunity for us all to get together, to connect, to share thoughts around the intersections between art and science, and to discuss ways of refocussing the project (including some funds and materials) towards something more relevant and useful for the community at this time. The details are as follows: Saturday 18th of January, 11am - 2pm @ the KI Brewery, 61 North Coast Road, Kingscote Light lunch and nibbles provided, drinks available at the bar. Please register your interest at [email protected] for catering purposes. This is a free event. For those who have already paid a registration fee for the workshops, a full refund can be given, or can be donated to the KI Mayoral Bushfire Fund. Thanks to everyone for your interest and support in the project. We will continue to keep in touch about ways that community can engage with the science/research in the second half of the year. Sending our thoughts to all of you, Dom and Sam

05.01.2022 This is a welcome reminder about the importance of artists and others coming together, to share, to support and to celebrate our strength. Action like this bhoys and empowers. It is where hope and change resides.

03.01.2022 Always interesting why some cultures think differently about animals if they look more like humans, and in this case, especially if they exhibit ‘whiteness’.

03.01.2022 Feeling it in the field.....
