25.01.2022 Here at ALWS, we’ve been so inspired by your creativity in finding new ways to Walk Your Way. And YOUR creativity has led to other new things like an ABC radio Gold Coast interview for Jonathan! He was excited to tell host Kate about the amazing things you’re doing to help refugee children. ... Click below to listen to the 3-min interview. Thanks for being awesome, Gold Coast people!
24.01.2022 And... Walk My Way St Andrews Lutheran College are off!! In fact, they are halfway there! Departing the College at 7am, staff and students are enjoying the trails, boardwalks, views, beaches and weather of the Gold Coast. But these Queenslanders enjoy those things every day! Their real motivation to get out there and walk 26kms is to help send refugee children to school! Thank you!... If you want to help St Andrews Lutheran College help refugee kids go to school, head to their fundraising page - https://standrews.walkmyway.org.au/ See more
24.01.2022 While COVID-19 means we’ve had to postpone our Gold Coast Walk My Way in August, it hasn’t stopped local school St Andrews Lutheran College. Years 10, 11, and 12 plus teachers will be walking the original 26km route on Saturday 8 August legends! You can support them here: https://standrews.walkmyway.org.au/ ... and help them reach their goal of sending 200 refugee children to school. Thanks, Awesome St Andrews!

20.01.2022 Wow. This is one amazing group of people! After raising enough for an irrigated greenhouse through ALWS for the Turkana people in Kenya at their Trivia Night in August our Saviour Church in Rochedale also did a Walk Your Way... and are now helping 364 refugee children go to school! Incredible stuff, Our Saviour thank you!
20.01.2022 QLD Assistant Bishop Mark ‘Marathon Man’ Vainikka is doing Walk Your Way except he’s going to run the 26km on a treadmill... while recovering from a knee injury! If you want to help Mark help refugee kids go to school, head to his fundraising page to sponsor him. What a legend. Thanks, Mark! https://doyourownthing.walkmyway.org.au//MarkVainikka-3783
19.01.2022 This group of bushwalkers are stepping out in love to bring school to refugee children! On September 27, walkers from Lifeway Epping and Newscastle are walking 26km from Hyde Park in the middle of Sydney to their church in Epping.... PLUS they’ve smashed their goal and are already helping 121 refugee children! You can encourage these legends by supporting them to help even more children here: https://doyourownthing.walkmyway.org.au//LifeWayEppingNewc Go you good things!!
17.01.2022 This looks like fun! Last Friday, the Year 9 students at Tatachilla Lutheran College ran stalls, held a Battle of the Bands competition, and bashed into each other in massive inflatable things all to help refugee children go to school!... The Year 9 students are also Walk-ing Their Ways this week through Kuipto Forrest. Their goal is to help more than 260 refugee children! To help them get there, you can sponsor them here: https://tatachilla.walkmyway.org.au/
17.01.2022 We’re loving the determination shown by this group of Walk My Way-ers! Dennis Canute and 3 grandchildren started their Walk from St Hallett Winery to St Jakobi in the Barossa months ago, when a bout of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome stopped Dennis in his tracks. Despite that, they were determined to help refugee children go to school... and finished the Walk last week! Dennis shares: ‘The children enjoyed the experience, the T-shirts, and the bags, which were are a good talking point along the way. We are all much more aware how far people have to travel to fetch water, and how blessed we are to live in Australia.’ Thank you, Dennis, Lilly, Nixon and Louis (and Grace who wasn’t able to join on the day). We think you’re all amazing!
15.01.2022 Wow! LORDS have smashed their goal and raised more than $6800 to help their partner village in Cambodia legends! The school community walked and walked and walked until they each reached 26km... to help Thmei Village build a Community Pond. On behalf of the village, we thank you for your fresh water for healthy veggies, animals and families!
15.01.2022 Today was meant to be Walk My Way Gold Coast. Like others across the country, many Queenslanders have still hit the track in one way or another to do Walk YOUR Way. Including Matt... for whom 26kms isn't quite far enough! Matt has just finished his Walk Your Way marathon! Lengthening the original Gold Coast route by an extra 16.5kms! Awesome effort Matt! Thanks for helping send refugee kids to school.
15.01.2022 Check out this group of heroes who walked on Saturday from Good Shepherd Lutheran School Noosa to Coollum Beach... and have so far helped 57 refugee children go to school! Help them get to 60 by donating at the link below. Thank you!
12.01.2022 Are you good at remembering facts? Do you know random stuff? Are people always making excuses to leave when you get going on one of your specialist subjects?... Then Our Saviour’s Trivia Night on Saturday 22 August is for you! It doesn’t matter that Our Saviour Church is in Brisbane this year they’ve taken their annual fundraiser online, so you can join from anywhere in Australia. Through ALWS, Our Saviour are raising money to help the Turkana people in Kenya with a drip-irrigated greenhouse. The greenhouse will help the community grow healthy food for their families for years to come! So invite your friends and family around (COVID rules permitting) and join the Our Saviour community for a night of facts, fun and fundraising. Find all the details you need and register your ‘table’ at the link below. Everyone welcome! (Make sure you only invite your smartest friends and family, obviously). https://oursaviourtrivianight.gofundraise.com.au/
12.01.2022 Peter Renner is putting his Walk My Way LLL sweat towel to good use! Peter lives in Melbourne where everyone is now required to wear a face mask to help stop the spread of COVID. Look, we’re not saying the LLL towel is surgical grade PPE. But it’ll do when you’re desperate... and is another example of the LLL looking after us. Thanks, LLL Australia! (By the way, Peter’s now walked more than 2,000km since March and is aiming for 2,285km by Christmas. That’s the distance from Melbourne to Port Douglas! As Peter says, ‘we won’t get there any other way this year!’ Go, Peter!)
09.01.2022 Walk My Way Good Shepherd Lutheran College have hit the pavement... and the trails, boardwalks and sand today! The smiles on those faces aren't just because of that glorious sunshine and the wonderful people they're waking alongside... ... those smiles are for the refugee children who are now going to school. Simply by walking 26kms and getting folks to sponsor them. It's as easy - and as fun - as that! Thank you GSLC!
09.01.2022 Deano the Dog and a group of 13 Humans Walk-ed Their 13.3km Way last Saturday from Corinda Church to Forest Lake! Food was a joint effort, with Pastor Michael hosting morning tea at the Manse (including fabulous cooking from Hannelore and Meeri), and Annabelle, Helen and Dianne hosting the sausage sizzle and refreshments at Forest Lake.... Together with some donations from recycling, Corinda has helped 85 refugee children go to school for a year! What a fantastic team you make. We say thank you on behalf of the 85 children and their families!
08.01.2022 She’s done it! 15 month old Hazel has walked 26km to help 147 refugee children go to school! In true Hazel style though she’s not done ... she wants to help another 7 kids! If you’d like to help Hazel reach her goal, you can support her here: https://doyourownthing.walkmyway.org.au/page/HazelWalks Thank you, Hazel! We can’t wait to see what you can achieve when you’re 2!!
07.01.2022 She's actually almost done it! Superstar toddler Hazel has ONE more kilometre to walk to reach her 26kms! As her little legs have pumped out the kms, she's raised enough money to send 138 refugee children to school! You can help Hazel help even more children here: https://doyourownthing.walkmyway.org.au/page/HazelWalks
06.01.2022 When it comes to helping others, the Year 9 students of Tatachilla Lutheran College don’t hold back. Last week, they immersed themselves in the refugee journey with a Walk My Way through Kuitpo Forest. For short periods of time they carried each other, ran for cover, walked without shoes, and heard stories of real refugee experiences.... While they know it was only a taste of what real refugees go through, they learnt so much and helped 38 refugee children go to school. Thanks, Year 9s!
06.01.2022 13 wonderful Walkers trekked from Hyde Park in Sydney for 7 and a half hours and 27.5km... to LifeWay Church in Epping and helped (wait for it) 253 refugee children go to school! That’s like a WHOLE SCHOOL! Incredible, Lifeway Bushwalkers. Thank you so much!
05.01.2022 And the winner is the Turkana people who will have a greenhouse for healthy veggies! Thank you, Our Saviour Rochedale, for hosting a fun-filled trivia night and for helping people in East Africa at the same time!... Results below. (Obviously, the ALWS team COULD have won but we didn’t want it to look rigged )
01.01.2022 If you’re up with the birds tomorrow morning, you might like to tune into ABC radio Gold Coast at 6.30am. You’ll hear Jonathan talk about the AMAZING things people like you are doing in Queensland, in spite of COVID-19 changing our Walk My Way plans like St Andrews College, who are going to walk the original 26km route one week later... or LORDS, who are encouraging all their students to walk 26km over a 2 week period or toddler Hazel, whose little legs didn’t stop her helping 149 refugee kids! Awesome people doing amazing things. We’re so inspired by you every day and now, a whole new audience will get to be too. Hooray! https://walkmyway.org.au/
01.01.2022 Pastor John Borchert and family hiked Nail Can Hill in NSW for their Walk My Way and finished at the ALWS Albury Office. The walk was around 16 kms, but we’re told it feels like 26 km because it’s so steep!... Well done, all
01.01.2022 We‘re loving the leadership from LORDS! Principal Jodie Hoff stepped out on the weekend, as part of the LORDS Walk My Way. For 2 weeks, LORDS students, staff and families are walking - until they reach 26kms!... To support them, or join the team, head to the link in the post below.
