This day is celebrated internationally and aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability. We also celebrate their achievements and contributions they have brought to their communities. As you can imagine, living a life where you have some form of disability can be very challenging, especially as there are more barriers to overcome and a huge lack of services available. ...Evidence shows that barriers that can be faced by people with disabilities can also have a negative effect to the community. If barriers are removed to ensure they are included to participate in more societal life, the whole community benefits from this, not just the person.
