25.01.2022 Whilst we have seen some rainfall across the district in the past month the Keech-Byram Drought Index (KBDI) is currently over 120, as a result from midnight Saturday, 5 December fire permits will be suspended in the Port Macquarie Hastings and Mid Coast Local Government Areas. This suspension will remain in place until weather conditions result in significant rainfall

23.01.2022 Congratulations to the members of Wallaby Joe Rural Fire Brigade who went over and above the call of duty during the 2019-2020 fires. Tonight Group Officer Ian Sirett presented members with the NSW Premier's Bushfire Emergency Citation in recognition of services during the 2019-2020 NSW Bushfires.

22.01.2022 The Wallaby Joe brigade attended Wingham Showground this morning as part of our community engagement and information program at the monthly Wingham Farmer's Market. It became a busy day for President John Dorrington, first doing an interview and photoshoot with the local newspaper then accepting a very generous $100 donation from Pauline Kennewell, a thankful local resident. Pauline was very grateful for the work of our brigade in last years horror fire season and is pictured... below with John in front of our wonderful Cat 7. Thank you Pauline. Your donation will be put to good use. Gary D Cox

18.01.2022 Some sad news for our RFS family today with news that the Captain of Killabakh RFS Brigade Ian Scarr passed away overnight. Condolences to his family and brigade members from the members of Wallaby Joe Rural Fire Brigade.

18.01.2022 On this day last year, NSW experienced some of its worst fire danger ever recorded at the time with Catastrophic fire danger forecast across the Sydney, Great...er Hunter and Illawarra/Shoalhaven areas, leading to widespread school closures. Fire danger ratings are an important tool to help you make decisions about what to do and under these conditions, your only safe option is to leave early. You can learn more about the fire danger ratings, and check the rating for your area each day, at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fdr See more

12.01.2022 While we have low-moderate fire conditions today compared to extreme this time last year, today Western Australia is facing catastrophic weather conditions around the Pilbarra & Goldfields regions. Our thoughts are with all of the people and fire fighters in those areas today. Keep safe.

04.01.2022 Wallaby Joe RFS members have spent time many hours over the past few weeks providing support to our extended first responders family at Wingham SES during the recent devastating floods. Tonight the crew regrouped at a "thank you" night!

04.01.2022 You know the alert levels of Advice, Watch and Act, and Emergency Warning. The way these are displayed on our website and Fires Near Me NSW smartphone app is changing. Soon you’ll see these new icons. It’s part of the new Australian Warning System, to help you receive consistent information in emergencies no matter where you live, work or travel. ... While the icons may look different, what they mean doesn't change - you should check for information about what to do to protect you and your family. Keep an eye out for the new icons later this week. Check https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au//gen/australian-warnings-system for info.
