25.01.2022 We’re thrilled to announce we’re offering up Australia’s best tobogganing terrain this winter. Not only that, we’re bringing back skiing and snowboarding too. F...rom the school holidays, every morning from 9am to 1pm it’s time to ski and snowboard with the Cobungra Platter ski lift. From 1:30pm, our ski slope becomes Australia’s longest dedicated toboggan run. We can’t wait for winter, now there’s just one more reason for you to be excited too www.visitdinnerplain.com.au *As always, snow activities are dependent on conditions. Keep those snow dances going
24.01.2022 Dinner Plain remains OPEN for business as usual We are pleased to announce that we will be continuing our on-mountain operations for all regional visitors not i...mpacted by the lockdown, for the next 6 weeks and beyond. 75m Cobungra Platter Toboggan Slope Cross Country Trail Grooming Food & Beverage Venues Nordic XC Skiing, Snowshoeing & Sled Dog Tours As always, there are no entry fees to visit Dinner Plain and capacity limits apply to activities and venues only, not to general access. We are working hard to support our industry and local operators, now it's our turn to ask you to do the same. Now is the time to turn 2020 around and experience the magic of winter at Dinner Plain.
22.01.2022 In light of Stage 3 restrictions, Dinner Plain is farewelling visitors for the time being. The Alpine and Mount Buffalo national parks, Mount Hotham Alpine Reso...rt and Falls Creek Alpine Resort are all closed to the public. Under Stage 3 restrictions, there are now only four permitted reasons for leaving home while abiding by hygiene, face covering and social distancing requirements. The Dinner Plain toboggan run has closed for the season, but we can’t wait to welcome everyone back for some fun next year! We are heartbroken to say goodbye to our visitors once more. We are so thankful for everyone who has travelled to our region and supported our local businesses in 2020. From our region to you, stay safe and be strong. We can’t wait to welcome you all back again. Stage 3 Restriction FAQ > www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/travel-regional-victoria-covid-19

19.01.2022 It's National Science Week and as many of you know, Hotham is home to a unique and diverse range of flora and fauna. Years of scientific research facilitated by... Resort Management has helped us learn and understand more about our many native species. While the climate can be harsh and cold, Hotham's flora and fauna has adapted to the environment. Vegetation covered in an insulating layer of snow, known as the subnivean space, allows some animals to remain active during winter. One of these is the Dusky Antechinus (Antechinus swainsonii) with this one recently spotted by Aviya and Bev from our environmental team. Like the Dusky Antechinus the Broad-toothed rat (Mastacomys fuscus) moves around between the surface and the bottom of the snowpack. At this time of year, wombats can also occasionally be seen around the village along with echidnas on the ski slopes.
18.01.2022 After the weekend's snow, it's been prime time enjoying Dinner Plain's XC trails. Our 35km network stretches all the way to Mt Hotham, the perfect option if you...'re itching to get skis on your feet this winter. Conditions are still patchy in parts so you might be best switching to snowshoes. Once the next big dump comes, it will be time for our groomers to do their brilliant best https://www.visitdinnerplain.com.au/snow-report/

16.01.2022 This may be the end of the 2020 snow season for us, but this isn’t good-bye! As you may or may not be aware, Alpine Nature Experience is a small family business... run by two staff members and myself. I still personally run every tour and thoroughly enjoy welcoming you at the eco-village. The recent NSW border closure has taken me away from my young son and 7-months-pregnant wife. Despite this, I have fulfilled my engagement to all guests, and all the businesses which depend on us, as much as I possibly could. This season we were going to run our last tour on the 12th of September, leaving me just enough time to be back for the arrival of our new baby. Unfortunately, these new lockdown measures mean that we will not be able to continue operating for this winter, but we will be back as early as this Summer with an exciting new offering. @tentsile I'd like to particularly thank all the businesses we collaborate with for the wonderful support and kind words I have received. Some of them are still running and offering fantastic things for our Alpine community. Make sure you have them on your bucket list on your next visit! @snowstuffpark @blizzardbrewco @mt.hotham.resort @mountainkitchen @nordbakery @platform9coffeeroasters @campbellswines @scionwine @jamesandcowines and many more! Bring it on 2021!

As all snow play & snow sports are now restricted (except XC skiing for on mountain residents) Hoys Mt Hotham, Jack Frost & Hoys Dinner Plain shops are closed and Hoys mobile chain service has now ceased operating until restrictions are lifted. We hope to be able to open mid September but no lifts will turn again until 2021. We are most grateful for all the support we have received from the community & our very valued guests to our Australian family business. Special mention of gratitude to all the operators including Alpine Spirit & mountain staff & snow clearing crew that have tried to stay the distance; the Alpine Shire & Mt Hotham RMB & the Australian Ski Industry Association for trying to keep the snow dream alive. Last but never least - enormous & heartfelt thanks to all Hoys staff for trying so hard to help us get people safely up the mountain & enjoy the snow (what little we've had!) operating during these difficult times. 09.01.2022 Alpine Shire Council acknowledges the directive made by the Victorian State Government today enforcing a 6 week lockdown for metro Melbourne. This will inevitab...ly mean a number of our visitors will be required to leave Dinner Plain in the coming days and others with future bookings will be unable to visit. We will provide further updates to what impact this development will have to our winter services as details become more clear. For now, we thank everyone who has visited our village and advise that operations of the Toboggan Slope will continue unchanged.

04.01.2022 It's the first day of winter, and we can't wait to open the snow season. Keep those snow vibes coming our way & we'll see you all as soon as we can Pic: Karl Gray
03.01.2022 The green season is here and it’s always a unique experience visiting areas you would normally ski or board. Once this wet weather is gone our tracks and trails are yours to explore.
01.01.2022 We are OPEN! Better snowfall than expected overnight means we’ve been able to open the toboggan slope today! Be prepared for contact tracing in place and timed sessions to manage capacity - full details at www.visitdinnerplain.com.au/tobogganing-2020
01.01.2022 So here we are, day 1 back in 'stage 3' lockdown. It's been a long road with many hurdles (and borders) just getting here this season only to operate for two me...asly weeks with very limited snow. Thank you to those lucky few who made it up here for a lesson or experience with us during this short time. As of today Hotham is now CLOSED to visitors. Therefore we've ceased operations in both Hotham and Dinner Plain (which didn't really start anyway) for the time being. However so long as this lockdown does the job on COVID and there's enough snow, we plan to offer as many cross country lessons, Nordic/XC tours and snowshoe experiences as we possibly can to cabin-fever afflicted Victorians in the latter half of September. Stay safe, keep your distance and maintain your sanity with hopes for some Spring snow adventures.
