15.01.2022 Hi All, We've received quite a bit of feedback on our page following the large controlled burn that took place yesterday afternoon in Wallan. We wanted to take this opportunity to help our community understand how and why this burn was able to take place, and to let you know that further burns are likely to occur in the coming weeks. We will try to provide notification on this page when they are happening however that is not always possible. Firstly, Wallan Fire Brigade did n...ot conduct this burn, it was completed by the private land manager, as they do every year around this time. Stubble burns are an important part of preparing the property for the next crop and the landowner takes every necessary precaution to ensure these burns remain controlled. As you may be aware, the CFA declared Fire Danger Period ended on Monday 16th March 2020. In line with this, Mitchell Shire Council regulations allow that areas inside the town boundary (classified as residential, urban-growth and semi-rural) are permitted to burn on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 10AM and 3PM. In rural areas, burn offs are permitted any day of the week provided it is safe to do so. At all times, the person/s conducting the burn must have the required equipment and water supply to control the burn. The map below shows these areas.

12.01.2022 WE NEED YOUR HELP!! = Zoom = Skype = MS Teams = WebEx... = Google Meet With the fire season quickly approaching and the very real possibility that we will still be faced with Covid-19 restrictions, we have had to make the difficult decision to move all of our bushfire/grassfire community meetings and information sessions online. We would like to find out which of the video conferencing platforms that you prefer, so we can make these meetings as accessible as possible to YOU the community. If you could please indicate by selecting a reaction Or simply comment below if you have any others.

09.01.2022 Tomorrow evening, Wednesday 29th April at 5:40 pm, many CFA brigades across Victoria will sound their sirens four times. Each siren sounding will represent and honour the brave Victoria Police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in Kew at 5:40 pm Wednesday 22nd April 2020. If you can hear our sirens at 5:40pm tomorrow, there is no reason to be alarmed. We encourage community members to utilise this time to take a moment to reflect and remember the sacrifice made by Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King, Constable Josh Prestney and Constable Glen Humphris. You can add your individual condolences to the Victoria Police In Memoriam page here https://bit.ly/2x5MqG4

02.01.2022 COVID-19 means that the community need to do some things a little differently than they normally would. This includes our firefighters. You might notice that we aren't out and about in the trucks as much as we usually would be but we want to ensure the community that we are still responding to triple zero (000) emergency calls as normal. You may see us wearing some additional protection at certain types of calls such as masks, gloves and eye protection - this is for your safety as much as ours. For the latest information on COVID-19 visit the Victorian Department of Health & Human Services website.
