19.01.2022 Good News Story! Two of our amazing WPS teachers, Jacky Vogelsang and Gemma Donnell, embarked on training this year through the Department for Education to complete the ORBIS Literacy R-3 program. Today they presented their work and findings to a small group, zooming with their lecturer in Victoria. They have persevered with their action research throughout the pandemic restrictions, all the while role modelling to students to never give up. In a nutshell the course was a r...esearch literacy project where Gemma and Jacky reflected on quantitative data from their respective classes. They addressed a particular area of literacy where they could devise and model teaching and learning to improve student outcomes and understanding. Quantitative and qualitative data were then again reflected upon and shared in a final presentation to other teachers, principals and university lecturers in Adelaide. Well done legends! Our students and staff with benefit from all your hard work for a long time to come. We are proud of you.

16.01.2022 Schools back on Monday! Please read the important Department for Education information contained in the letter below. Huge thank you to the staff that volunteered to be onsite over the last two days.

13.01.2022 END OF YEAR CONCERT ANNOUNCEMENT

11.01.2022 We are looking forward to school being open again from tomorrow but encourage our families to still be mindful that the Department of Health is still tracing the recent cases. Although it is not mandated that we wear masks, some staff may feel they need to. We are being asked to limit people onsite therefore ask that parents and carers do not come onto school grounds unless necessary. Please phone the school with any queries or concerns. As usual we will endeavour to update our community as soon as we are able. The Department for Education FB page is also another avenue for up to date information along with SA Health.

08.01.2022 The Wallaroo Ladies Bowling Club held a function at the Community Club on Tuesday this week (10th Nov). Because it is the "Year of the Mask" they asked to borrow the masks our students had decorated that were currently displayed in the Wallaroo Foodland Complex for their event. They looked fantastic and were displayed beautifully. Thank you also to Wallaroo Ladies Bowling Club for their kind donation of $110.

06.01.2022 Don’t forget to buy your Country Times this week. Miya’s winning local selection entry into the global Lions International Peace Poster Contest, run by the Wallaroo Lions Club, title ‘Dream for Peace’ is on page 26 and our BookWeek masks made a great backdrop for the recent Wallaroo Bowling Club women’s invitation day. 04.01.2022 Reading Celebration Day Due to an outstanding 100% of students completing the Premier’s Reading Challenge this year, Wallaroo Primary School celebrated BIG TIME! Last Friday (13th Nov) the day with Splash Theatre Company performing highlights from children’s books and poems. Thanks to Kieran McNamara, Kathryn Adams and Miranda Pike for travelling from Adelaide to deliver their entertaining performance. All of our students received their certificates and medals for finishing t...he Premier’s Reading Challenge during an assembly before enjoying a sausage sizzle lunch. Thanks to volunteers Marc Ferrone, Michell McBride, Kirsty and Tim Miles, Alison Gooding and Mark Seddon for cooking and serving our lunch. Big thank you to Di Seddon for driving our whole school love of reading . The day concluded with a colour run obstacle course around the school play area, with music playing and lots of smiles. 02.01.2022 From midnight tonight, South Australians will pause and create a 6 day circuit breaker that will enable us to get ahead of the Parafield Cluster. This means al...l non-essential workers must stay home and only leave for groceries and medical supplies. Our decision to go hard and go early is based on the advice of our world class health team. I know the restrictions we have put in place will be challenging for many South Australians, but the alternative is the virus escapes into the wider community forcing an even longer lockdown. I urge people to be kind and respectful to one another during this time. Click through the images to see what's open and what's closed. Thank you for working together with us - we WILL get through this.
