25.01.2022 Learn more about the Willow Court archaeology projects from this recent blog post http://flindersarchaeology.com/2016/03/04/sleeping-history/

25.01.2022 Another short blog post about the recent research undertaken with Assoc Prof Heather Burke from Flinders University at Willow Court in New Norfolk, Tasmania http://flindersarchaeology.com//love-lives-on-in-a-time-w/

23.01.2022 Here's another short blog post on the maximum security Ward C at Willow Court http://flindersarchaeology.com//screaming-willows-confine/

22.01.2022 Nice piece on recent geophysical investigations at Port Lincoln - a shame though that the journo didn't actually name Dr Kelsey Lowe who was actually doing all the work! http://www.portlincolntimes.com.au//search-for-a-piece-of/

22.01.2022 Here's a short post on dark tourism and Willow Court http://flindersarchaeology.com//morbid-fascination-the-da/

22.01.2022 Very excited to have played a minor role in helping name a new dinosaur species from Richmond, which has a parrot-like beak, bones in its skin and an inner ear like a turtle. Meet Kunbarrasaurus inverse, whose name means Ievers shield-lizard, deriving from the Wanamara word for shield, and after the bloke on whose property the type specimen was found. Congratulations to Lucy Leahey from Qld Museum and the team! Publication: https://peerj.com/articles/1475/

20.01.2022 WHC one time or current time staffers Alice Gorman, Claire Ratican, Jordan Ralph, Tsiang Lim and Jacq Matthews immortalised as minions. From back in the days when I was procrastinating (of course now I am far too busy to do such things)

18.01.2022 WHC is pleased to announce the 2018 annual recipient of the WHC Archaeological Fieldwork Bursary is Uschi Artym of the Archaeology Department at Flinders University. In 2017 Uschi spent three weeks assisting with the survey and excavation of the Native Mounted Police camp at Boulia in northwest Qld. In 2018 Uschi will be completing her honours thesis on an analysis of the materials excavated from one of the trenches at the site. Congratulations Uschi and good luck with the analysis and writing up the thesis!

18.01.2022 My colleague Bryce Barker will be presenting on our ARC Native Mounted Police project at the Qld Police Museum this weekend - check it out if you're in Brisbane

17.01.2022 As one project finishes (the Barngarla Language School project at Port Lincoln), the trek to another (the Native Mounted Police project in Queensland) begins... #alwaystravelling #Iwantmyownbedandpillow

17.01.2022 WHC is pleased to announce the inaugural recipient of the WHC Archaeological Fieldwork Bursary is Calvin Logan of the Archaeology Department at Flinders University. Calvin has just spent three weeks in Tasmania carrying out research at Willow Court, on a joint historical archaeology project with the Derwent Valley Council led by Assoc Prof Heather Burke of Flinders University. Calvin will be completing his honours thesis on an analysis of the materials excavated from under the floor boards in several of the rooms in the Barracks (the oldest building on the site, dating to c1830). Congratulations Calvin and good luck with the thesis!

17.01.2022 This is so very sad for the community with who we are currently working with up at Laura on the Native Mounted Police project. It is a very subdued group at present and we anticipate having several days off in respect of his passing. Vale Tommy George.

16.01.2022 WHC is proud to support this initiative of AACAI. Hoping there are some worthy applications for great projects in 2017

15.01.2022 Nice product placement Kelsey Lowe

15.01.2022 Very relevant today given our current research into the Native Mounted Police in Queensland

13.01.2022 Off to UWA today to do a talk on a new ARC project that we're involved in on the archaeology of the Native Mounted Police in Queensland

13.01.2022 WHC has been a strong supporter of this scheme in previous years which provides funding to graduate students to assist with their research into CHM and research with links to consulting archaeology - looking forward to supporting it again in 2017 and seeing the great projects that students propose to do

11.01.2022 I will be doing a live radio interview with Vanessa Mills from ABC Kimberley mornings (http://www.abc.net.au/kimberl/programs/kimberley_mornings/) tomorrow (Wednesday) at 10.10 am (Broome time) on our Native Mounted Police ARC project if anyone wants to listen in

11.01.2022 Susan Arthur's research at Baker's Flat (where we did the geophysical surveys last month) is featured in this nice story on Heritage Daily - check it out! http://www.heritagedaily.com//flinders-archaeologis/110645

10.01.2022 A lovely blog on the fabulous geophysical work we did at Baker's Flat last month with the awesome Susan Arthure. Good luck on the upcoming excavations - may there be many exciting finds in your future!

10.01.2022 Loving the sneaky WHC sticker on the back of the prism in this post about Kelsey Lowe and archaeological geophysics https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php

09.01.2022 Here you can find out more about Willow Court - this time about the maximum security Ward C, which was one of the 'creepier' buildings we went into http://flindersarchaeology.com//screaming-willows-confine/

08.01.2022 WHC staff members Kelsey Lowe, Jordan Ralph and Lynley Wallis are all heading off to Kapunda tomorrow for a week of geophysical survey with Flinders Archaeology PhD candidate Susan Arthure. Nutella? Packed. Chocolate? Packed. Gin? Packed. Must be ready to go then.

06.01.2022 Nice final blog post by Jacinta Koolmatrie on her project with the Barngarla people, who we're working with on the Barngarla Native School project at Port Lincoln http://flindersarchaeology.com//the-barngarla-museum-proj/

06.01.2022 So it's been a long time between posts, but that's because we've been so busy there's been scant time for social media. This week WHC team member Jill Huntley is in the Pilbara working with Banjima traditional owners delivering training in rock art conservation and management to help ensure the ongoing protection of pigment art.

02.01.2022 Archaeology peeps should get behind this initiative

02.01.2022 Excited to finally have returned from fieldwork to learn that while I was away the Barngarla language app has been launched - am very happy for my Barngarla colleagues and all those involved in the project (especially linguist Ghil'ad Zuckerman from University of Adelaide). You can check it out at https://barngarla.regenr8.org

01.01.2022 Yay - mine and Jacq Matthews' paper on built structures in rock shelters of the Pilbara has finally been published!

01.01.2022 Keep up to date with what's happening at Quinkin sites on Cape York where I've been working recently
