25.01.2022 The MBS has not kept pace with the CPI for many years and the MBS Freeze accelerates this fall in funding of primary care which is arguably the best value component of our heath system. Extending the MBS Freeze will impact those who can afford it the least. Please urge your local candidate to support our health care system and thereby support the health of all Australians.

24.01.2022 A big thank you to all our patient patients and our sincere apology for all the inconvenience over the last week. We are gradually completing installation and transition to our surgery's $50 000+ IT infrastructure upgrade and upgrade to the latest version of our medical software that commenced on Friday 25 November. This follows straight after construction of a new consulting room and other improvements... As expected there are a myriad of adjustments still to make but we now have a faster and greater capacity system which will enhance our services A big thank you to our practice team: manager Cheree; reception team of Bev, Lynn, Michelle, Sandra and Amanda and our RN's Stephanie, Anthony and Liz who have all worked hard extra hours to keep everything running. To all our patients, have a great festive season.

23.01.2022 Dr Mark Bentley

23.01.2022 Walter Road East General Practitioners changed over to Office Solutions I.T. in November 2016. After being with previous IT provider for over 16 years. It was the best decision we made and we regret not doing so earlier as they provided welcome relief of support and knowledge. They had the task of learning our business structure, assisting the configuration of our new medical program upgrade at the same time of upgrading our (Both) servers which crashed. ... The transition was extremely smooth and without any hiccups which was a relief as we are a completely computerised practice. During the conversion OSIT were assessable and very supportive and explained everything down to the simplest issues so we could go forward with confidence. Their team provided us with outstanding service of engineering, problem solving, quoting, and just their ideas/suggestions where we can improve in the virtual domain were an asset to our business. I find them to be highly professional and would recommend them if you are looking for any Technical Support.

21.01.2022 Dear patients I would like to inform the Walter Road East community that as of February 2017 I will no longer be practising at Walter Road East GPs as, due to family circumstances, I am leaving to take up a position elsewhere. I would like to thank you for the privilege of being your doctor and will be handing over your care to one of the other experienced and caring GPs at the practice. I would also like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to all the Walt...er Road staff, medical, nursing and reception who have supported and nurtured me from a fledgling GP registrar way back in 2004 to the doctor I am today. In particular I am grateful to Dr Rohan Gay and Dr Katie Cooper who have been there the whole time to mentor me and provide valuable clinical advice and, equally important, friendship. If you have any queries about your ongoing care please do not hesitate to speak to reception or clinical staff. All the best for the future and thankyou once again for allowing me to care for you over the years, Best wishes, Dr Lucy Rosman See more

10.01.2022 And that's a wrap! The Walter Road folk are leaving GP16 inspired and exhausted! Well done to Dr Gay for delivering an excellent presentation this afternoon, and more importantly for being awarded National GP Supervisor of the year. The Good GP Never Stops Learning!

09.01.2022 We are so proud to receive this award! Congratulations to Dr Rohan Gay and practice manager Cheree Matthews!

09.01.2022 Today we received this message from the Health Department: WA disease surveillance shows that, over the last 5 years, influenza season typically begins around Week 25 in 2016, this corresponds to the week of June 20-26th. ... While it is impossible to predict with certainty when flu season will hit in earnest, it is clear that now is the time to immunise remaining unvaccinated patients against influenza, to ensure they are protected before flu season starts. Influenza vaccination is especially important for groups at increased risk including: children aged between 6 months and <5 years of age pregnant women persons > 65 years of age patients with chronic medical conditions, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adolescents and adults aged 15 years We have plenty of flu vaccine in stock so perhaps now is the time to consider popping in to get vaccinated? Please note that you will need to be seen by a doctor prior to receiving the flu vaccine, even if you have had one in the past.

07.01.2022 Flu vaccines are coming! We are expecting delivery in early April...clinics will open soon. These vaccines are quadrivalent, so have four strains of virus instead of three (available presently through pharmacies). The government and the surgery recommend the quadrivalent vaccine as it offers more protection from flu viruses.

06.01.2022 I received the award for RACGP Supervisor of the year at the RACGP Academic Session and Awards Ceremony held at the University of Western Australia on 28 September 2016. My sincere thanks for this award goes to the College, the WA branch, WAGPET our fantastic WA training program, my staff, doctors and nurses and family, and most of all to the registrars it has been my privilege to teach and importantly my own supervisors who were my formative influences all those years ago. W...e are the 6% of the health spend, yet General Practice is the at once the broadest, most complex, most effective branch of the medical profession. I also consider general practice to be the most compassionate and caring branch. To be considered for an award for teaching in this branch is thus a great honor. Teaching our craft, necessitates a reflection of one's own knowledge, practices and values and to ask oneself whether one is good enough. It is a personal educational activity second to none. The reward of teaching is to see my registrars pass something of my knowledge, practices and values with them into the broader general practice community, just as I do the same for that imparted to me by my supervisors and all the other wonderful colleagues that have influenced me. Particularly in this challenging time when our work is undervalued and poorly understood, I urge all GP's passionate for how great general practice can be to participate in the teaching of Registrars who are the GP's of the future. Thank you.

06.01.2022 Well done to Dr Liz Gray, west Australian GP registrar of the year!

05.01.2022 One of the most amazing talks we have been to this week was from Dr Amanda Stafford who is pioneering baclofen treatment for alcoholism right here in Perth. We all left feeling so very inspired and are putting the word out so that if you, or someone you know, needs assistance with treating problem drinking you can check out her awesome website or visit one of the GPs at Walter Road for more information.

03.01.2022 You can now book appointments online through Health Engine. Please let us know if there are any problems. Thank you https://healthengine.com.au//walter-road-east-genera/s5377 or Click the 'Book Now Button' on Facebook.

03.01.2022 Congratulations to Dr Elizabeth Gray who received her official letter of Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners today. Well done Liz! It's great when our registrars finish their training and decide to come back to WREGP as a permanent GP...I'm sure our patients think so too!

01.01.2022 Steph is one of our fabulous practice nurses and she has been with us since 2014. She trained in Perth and has been nursing for over 20 years. She has a special interest in chronic disease management and is a great addition to our team!
