22.01.2022 Founded in 2003, Walton Bridge Reserve Bushcare Group is dedicated to restoring an urban rainforest in the heart of The Gap. Where Fish Creek meets Enoggera Creek, Walton Bridge Reserve is believed to have been a meeting place for local Aboriginal people. When land was surveyed in 1858, 12 acres of land were set aside for a bridge crossing. Significant areas of remnant bush remain. Walton Bridge Reserve Bushcare Group is working to restore the creek corridor and maintain the remnant bush. The photo shows Robert Whyte and Mark Crocker at the first working bee in 2003.

15.01.2022 Most mornings our chickens (Missy, Strawberry, Claudia and Sylvia) get a bucket of weeds collected from Walton Bridge Reserve. Their favourite weed is Calissia repens (creeping inch plant). In the video Stawberry the white Leghorn is allowing Missy the dominant Plymouth Rock to have the first feed while chasing away Sylvia the Wyandotte.

13.01.2022 Walton Bridge Reserve received 222 mm of rain from Sunday 21 March till Wednesday 24 March. With Enoggera Dam spilling there has been some flooding of the low-lying areas and the bike path.

02.01.2022 Thanks to the 11 volunteers who attended the Walton Bridge Reserve working bee on 6 June 2020. We created five large piles of green waste. The area was infested with Creeping Inch Plant (Callisia repens). It was smothering mature Lomandra and even creeping over the green boy in the photo. We will be working in the same area in Lochinvar at 3:30pm on Saturday 4 July 2020.
