22.01.2022 We are sad to announce that a former Wamuran Hockey Club member has past away last monday. Steve Gubesch was a valued member of our club for many years in the juniors competition. Our sincere condolences go out to Paul,Kate, Eric and families. His funeral will be held at Heartfelt Funerals Deception Bay Wednesday 22nd January at 2:00pm.

20.01.2022 Attention Members With much regret SCHA Board announce, effective immediately, all junior, senior and master’s competitions and trainings will be suspended unti...l Monday 4th May 2020. This decision has not been made lightly, however due the unprecedented times we are facing we want to ensure members and families we are putting everyone’s health before anything else. SCHA turf and facilities will go into lockdown with no unauthorised access to grounds until further notice. SCHA Board will communicate any further information and updates to clubs when they come to hand as we continue to monitor the ever-changing situation. So pull them out of retirement, dust off that hockey stick and find and spring clean your uniform, shin pads and hockey shoes. All new players are most welcome. 14.01.2022 QUICK UPDATE There have been some further team withdrawals at SCHA and therefore the Board last night approved Version 3 of the Draw for the next 5 weeks. The main change to us is for the Division 3 Women who are now playing every Friday night and of course are playing 100% turf. 11.01.2022 Att: Players Could you please reply to a text (as below) sent to you all today by no later than midnight tomorrow, Monday, 15 June. Thank you Hi all,... Well what a week! Saying goodbye to our dear friend Rusty and me on the road to recovery having my kidney transplant on 30/5. The purpose of this player's text is to guage your thoughts on Hockey Season 2020 or what participation you wish to have in playing this year, whatever that looks like. The fixtures committee is holding their meeting this Tuesday night and need each Club to confirm their intentions. My general feel at this stage is that we should give it all a big miss and start fresh ready for Season 2021, however our Club Committee will be guided by your feedback. The options are:- 1. Give it a miss and start fresh 2021 - ie 1 Div 2 Men's and hopefully 1 Div 2 or 3 Women's Team; 2. Play a Season 2020 whatever that looks like. This an egg/chicken problem as SCHA cannot tell us what that looks like nor what the fees will be until they receive confirmed Team Nominations. 3. If you decide to play as above and we are short of numbers and cannot commit to a Wamuran Team, then you would be happy to merge or play with another Club. I recommended to SCHA that due to so much uncertainity that we play a black/white comp $10/$15 per game and pick players out of hats just to get some hockey playing in. SCHA with so little year left will not be making any profit as such anyway and should just cut their losses and to get some hockey, fun and social interaction happening. This obviously has not been taken up. If you are not playing this Season and wish for my assistance to obtain your refunds please give a ring. I look forward to hearing from you no later than midnight tomorrow Monday, 15 June. 06.01.2022 As you will all be aware our beloved Russ Mogg lost his hard fought battle with cancer last Thursday. He was a loved and cherished member of our hockey club and will be missed both on the field and off. Below is the link to his funeral service tomorrow at 1:30pm. 01.01.2022 It is with heartfelt sadness that we let you know that Russ - Russell Peter Mogg lost his battle with Cancer on Thursday 4 June 2020. Russ was a loving husband to Tracey, cherished father to Brayden and Chelsea and amazing friend to so many. Celebration of Life details are being finalized and will be released soon, due to COVID we have some restrictions to work through. Thank you to everyone for your love and support during our journey, words can’t express how truly grateful we are.
