25.01.2022 Just picked up one of our grass fed, Lowline steers from the butcher. Looking forward to eating home grown beef again.

24.01.2022 Bull calves seem to be the norm at Wanamara Farm this year. Another 2 this morning. All the more steers for the Certified Lowline Beef supply.

24.01.2022 Finally had a chance to wean some of the older calves (8-9 mths old). The great early rain we received this year has meant the calves can be left on their mums for longer. A vast difference to weaning calves at 5 months old which was necessary last year

24.01.2022 We had 2 special visitors at the farm yesterday. A bit hard to see in the photo but they were a pair of Brolgas. They are swamp birds and our paddocks are a bit like a swamp at the moment so they were having a lovely time

23.01.2022 First time Mum, Wanamara Slow Down Sister, gives us another lovely bull calf.

22.01.2022 Lowlines in the rye. Plenty of feed for the girls this summer.

21.01.2022 We have been breeding our Australian Lowlines for 25 years - a fantastic breed of cattle that suit many different situations. We are always happy to talk to people about them and have quality animals for prospective buyers

20.01.2022 Wanamara Bindi is the pin-up girl for this post. Long gone now but we have many of her daughters, granddaughters & great granddaughters in our herd who all ooze the Australian Lowline traits.

18.01.2022 A beautiful Spring day, new calves arriving, cows shedding their winter coats are in forward condition, the dam is full and the grass is growing in the paddocks that are not still water logged. Not much to complain about......

16.01.2022 Just checking the maternity ward this morning - heifers, Demelza, Dinah and Slow Down Sister, are not far off calving. Delta Blue and Carlotta have already presented me with lovely heifers by Dynamite. If you are looking for new genetics please contact us

15.01.2022 Members of the Wanamara Farm family

15.01.2022 We have a crossbred Lowline calf being bottle fed 3 times a day. He was rejected by his first-time mum - she wanted another calf as her own so left him. He is 3 weeks old and thriving.

15.01.2022 A lovely night for a bonfire

14.01.2022 A Wintery July day - the clover is everywhere and a couple of the girls are a bit bloated so out with the hay, bloat blocks and more ad lib minerals

14.01.2022 And the new verandah finally has a roof making the old farmhouse look like a majestic old lady

12.01.2022 Another lovely day in Paradise

11.01.2022 It is great to see progeny of your cattle & to know they have left their mark in the development of the breed. This bull, MCR Findons Monarchy, is the son of Wanamara Findon Royale who I sold to the USA in 2007. He was exported when he was 20 months old. Wanamara Findon Royale was used extensively in the USA & Canada & was a leading AI Sire, producing impressive progeny.

11.01.2022 BREED BEEF NOT BONE - Australian Lowline steers produce great beef with a higher meat yield than most breeds. We processed another steer last week at 25 months old. Carcase weight was 251kg with saleable meat of 191kg = 76% meat yield.

11.01.2022 This is my pin-up boy, Wanamara Vander-Kuyp - sire, grandsire & great grandsire of many Australian Lowline Champions, a testament to the breed.

11.01.2022 A little surprise this afternoon - a cute little crossbred heifer calf from one of my Lowline heifers! Dad was a young Lowline/Speckle Park bull who must have secretly joined this girl before he left for his new home. Naughty boy The Australian Lowline Cattle Association need DNA and Parent Verification before they approve registrations so we know our registered Lowlines are genuine Australian Lowlines.

09.01.2022 A family photo for the album - Wanamara Dynamite and Wanamara Mary Poppins with their son, Wanamara TNT (taken yesterday when we had sunshine, not thick cold fog like today)

09.01.2022 One of my favourite cows calved today - Wanamara Firecracker. A fantastic cow who always produces great calves. With the long legs the heifer calf has, the sire must be Wanamara Cavalier. Firecrackers previous calf is just 10 months old so this is a very fertile cow with great mothering abilities.

08.01.2022 Another one of my favourite cows, Wanamara Opal Nera has given me a heifer this year. The sire is my Royal Melbourne Show Grand Champion bull, Wanamara Dynamite who is producing great calves in his first season. Now a 7 year old cow, it is hard to believe Opal Nera was orphaned at 3 months old when her mum’s hip gave way and she had to be put down.

08.01.2022 These 4 ladies headed off to their new home in Tullymorgan, NSW. Two have calves and the other 2 are not far off calving. We are sure Stewart Sweeting and his family will enjoy their new Lowlines and we welcome them into the ALCA family.

08.01.2022 An early birthday present from Catherine Knight, Justin and Grandson, Parker. This is a lovely rustic garden ornament but looks like my bull, Dynamite, only a different color.

07.01.2022 I love to watch the antics of my bulls. This is a face-off between older bull, Lawless and 3 yr old Dynamite. Nothing was said, just a bit of sniffing and sideway looks

06.01.2022 Couldnt go past this lovely matron without taking her photo. Wanamara Opal Nera is a few weeks off calving

06.01.2022 Steers are doing a great job eating down the weeds around the new pastures and in the laneways. Cant waste anything!

06.01.2022 I had a virtual visit from 1st Year Ag students from Dookie Ag College today. Last year a busload of students came to the farm but this year, due to Covid-19 restrictions, it was videos I had made over the past couple of weeks followed by a ZOOM meeting where I explained about my cattle & how I manage my farm. These are all new experiences but things I think we will have to do for quite a while longer

05.01.2022 Another Wanamara heifer - this is Heartbreak There are plenty more like her available.

05.01.2022 Visiting the maternity paddock today. Two distinct groups - mums with babies and ladies-in-waiting

04.01.2022 Looking for a lovely quiet young bull for your girls - Little Aberdeen Anderson is the bull you need. He is agisting at Wanamara Farm at the moment. Contact Christine Mcintosh, McIntosh Creek Lowlines, for further information

04.01.2022 These Wanamara heifers are special - they are now in calf to registered Australian Lowline bull, McIntosh Creek Monsoon Red, so the calves will be red gene carriers. Some are available for sale so contact us if you are interested.

03.01.2022 Another beautiful day on the farm. Contented cows with lovely green grass to eat

02.01.2022 A lovely surprise this morning. Wanamara Hot Flush sitting alone in the long grass, and on closer investigation, with a newborn calf. After many bull calves, Flush has finally given me a heifer

02.01.2022 Poddy calf, Buster, 5 weeks old now spends his day in the paddock with my 3 young bulls

02.01.2022 Our name is AUSTRALIAN LOWLINE - for all those who value the environment & want to be self sufficient - this is the breed for you. Wanamara Farm can help you with quality beef cattle.

01.01.2022 This heifer, Wanamara Jewel, was finally weaned today at 9 months old. She is the result of implanting an 18 year old embryo 18 months ago. The heifer is as big as her recipient mum, Wanamara Fire Opal who has done a fantastic job on her calf.

01.01.2022 Good water supply for Summer

01.01.2022 Another cold night on the way.....
